    Just got a muzzle loader rifle and have a black powder pistol and was looking to shoot with some experienced shooters to learn more about the sport. Are there any organized shoots, clubs etc. for black powder around central MD.

    Head to western Maryland on a Sunday morning and shoot with the Hooligans. Seems like most of their shoots involve black powder lately.

    Us Hooligans shoot a LOT of BP. We're way out here in Garrett Co, but you are welcome to join us. You'd learn many new things about making white smoke...

    Marriottsville Muzzle Loaders used to have monthly shoots at the AGC range in Marriottsville. They have a link on the AGC web site so you should be able to see when they shoot.

    What kind did you get, flint, cap or inline? If the latter, it's not as much to learn. I am shooting 50 cal cap rifle and 44 cal revolvers. I can't afford the flint lock I would like to build yet. I'm still 2 hours from you.

    Shooting a new to me cap .54 rifle and .44 pistols no flint lock yet. Just wanted to learn the ins and outs etc. from some experienced shooters.

    Look on the AGC calendar for scheduled Black Powder shoots. I think that they still sponsor Md. State Championship matches. It's crowded but lots of fun.
