Del Arikan is extremely pro 2A. I just received an email from her with notifications of the upcoming 2A bills in the House and Senate. It absolutely would be worth contacting her.

I agree completely.
My point is that we need to exploit other methods more efficiently. Showing up is just one avenue to get our message out, but it's limited and reactive. Turnout on Gun Bill Days has been impressive when we mass in the House and Senate chambers, but we need to "seed" the state much earlier than that. Again, VCDL had WEEKS of social media and MSM buzz BEFORE the rally. We must emulate that somehow. AGC is the 500 pound 2A gorilla in the state; what will it take to mobilize them?
Now is when we start planning next year. Suggest our Keyboard Kommandos get smart on Information Warfare philosophy and techniques. If we don't get out ahead of the Moms and their pet legiscreatures we won't have any rights left to defend. Continue to react and we'll wind up another New Jersey.
The following are my thoughts and mine alone. I don't mean to cast aspersions, but I feel some may warranted.

Not to pee in the punch bowl, but I just am facing up to reality.
The VA rally had some advantages that our Annapolis rally didn't:
- Good timing, in the middle of a three day weekend; and
- Nationwide MSM coverage, in anticipation of Bugaloo, for at least two weeks prior.
The VA rally followed Information Warfare principles; ours didn't. The VA rally leveraged their (and our) Keyboard Kommandos on social media to build buzz; we belittled ours for not testifying. The VA clubs and organizations built a "Resistance" atmosphere; we went about our separate disparate ways. The VCDL took the spotlight as the leader of the rally and other orgs and clubs supported them; it appeared that our 2A organizations engaged in mumbling contests to see who could make the smallest statewide impact; and totally ignored national media.
True, we got air time AFTER, but it was nothing compared to the wall-to-wall live coverage of the VA rally. We need to think of ways to exploit the media beforehand for next year.
I'm afraid it's too late for this year, especially with the diluted schedule of hearings in the MGA...
Flame away.
One thing I believe we need to be more conscious of is not educating the enemy, especially at the hearings. Reasons against are fine but, never ever give them anything more than what is needed to shut down the bill. Pointing them in directions that they can and will use against us at some point in the future must be avoided!
They have VCDL and we don't. For years we had people from various organizations go to ANP in suits and ties and talk nice. I know, I was there. We were told don't come in camo, hunting gear, work clothes as we want to present a nice image to the GA.
VCDL has been fighting dirty and down in the trenches for many years. Until recently, they also were not overwhelmed with left wing politicians like we have been as long as I have lived here.
I agree with using the young computer savvy folks to get the word out and let the world know what the truth is. I can't help there, I can barely use a computer.
Yep. Let's face it, in Virginia there is still some sort of give-and-take in political system. Our's is long gone. People in this state aren't willing to put in that kind of effort because most see it as pointless. VA still has several moderate to conservative legislators. We do not. And with the majority that the liberal democrats have in this state there's no chance they aren't going to pass whatever anti-gun bills they want year after year. I mean, it sucks, but that is what is here now. Add to that a so-called Republican Governor who won't even give so much as lip service to pro-2A legislation and we have no chance. I mean Hogan could at least make a pro-CCW speech every so often or introduce "shall issue" bills even though he knows they will lose, but he doesn't bother. Why pretend to be a Democrat all the time when it gets you nothing? At least be the voice of dissent once in a while. Anyway put it all together and the apathy among MD gun owners is sort of understandable.
Virginia still has a two party system .
No state has a two party system. Parties are just groups of people pooling their political resources.
Virginia still - for the moment - has a population that has the usual world-view divide occurring between to groups of roughly the same size. In Maryland, the lefty world view is embraced by way, way more than half of the population. That’s the difference. Party dominance in the state legislature is just a reflection of the culture’s tipping somewhat (VA) or a lot (MD) in a given direction.

Ok , the particular " Group of People Pooling their Political Resources " by law and parliamentary procedures has absolute power , and everyone else combined doesn't even create a legislative speed bump .
And since the in power " Group of People Pooling their Political Resources " uses their absolute power to redraw electoral districts to maximize their power even farther beyond their raw numbers , they are self perpetuating .
An “assault weapons” ban that was rejected by state lawmakers earlier this week was the result of a wide-reaching and comprehensive grassroots strategy in Virginia executed by a handful of Second Amendment advocates and organizations, according to gun rights groups.
Executives at four gun rights groups told The Epoch Times that a barrage of social media alerts, phone calls, and emails to lawmakers, office visits, petitions, public awareness campaigns, and testimonies at hearings they helped organize with members were all contributing factors to the legislation losing support in a Senate Judiciary Committee hearing on Feb. 17...

This is an example we need to emulate. Too late for this year, but instead for next year when these trash bills resurface.
Will someone(s) touch base with VCDL and get some pointers that we can use?

We have an expert on grass roots efforts here on the board and he has made many offers to help get a group started down this road, but the majority of people either aren't interested (even though they say we need to do something), or they just plain ignore his offers.
Phil Van Cleave is not hard to find and you appear to have some time on your hands.
Who?
