I thought you were supposed to get Gen 2 stuff for these lowers? It looks like Big Tex has Gen 3 and 4. Am I wrong?

Everything I have seen has gen 3 for the poly 80s. I have no idea if gen 2 would also work. I haven't seen any gen 2 parts advertized but Gen 3 stuff is everywhere.

I have read that the gen 4 parts are definitely not compatible.

Ok, I had my numbers mixed up. Thanks.

I saw a video where a little extra machining got the Gen 4 slide to fit.

Opinions on the Magpul GL9's for these? I have seen a lot of reviews saying they are great and a few saying they are garbage. Anyone have experience with them?

I have them, and they work fine. I use them in classes and competition, which is harder use than 90% of the Internet commandoes have probably ever engaged in.

Love’em for range use and Zev makes floorplates exclusively for them. GTG in my book.

Well, that’s distinctive (spelled “distinctive”, pronounced “fugly”). For that price, though...

I actually like the Robin's egg blue (a.k.a. Tiffany blue) and with a stainless slide and a black barrel, it looks pretty cool.

My problem is: I don't think a handgun should be dressed up in toy-like colors, but that was covered in a separate thread.

Agreed! I'm confident that I could change the color to...something else...one way or another. If it was full size for that price, I'd be on it.

Basically a full size P80 with the grip cut down and profiled to match the P80SC. MagPul PMAG GL9-12’s fit like a glove. Same sight radius and bbl length as the full size, with the tiny two finger grip of subcompact.

It literally disappears into the front pockets of cargo pants or loose jeans.

Amazingly, it’s only about an hour job from start to finish.

    Inspired by the Detonics Streetmaster.

Got the channel liner 99% of the way in with no damage with a Bic pen. Unfortunately it needs to go about 1 millimeter more so that the firing pin sleeve will compress enough for the cover plate to fit. can't get it with any tools I've tried. Guess I should have bought the tool in the first place.

Admittedly, I've only put one slide together so far :o but it worked out way easier than I was anticipating. I couldn't use the tool for for the liner. My liner fit tighter around the tool than in the channel, so the tool would pull it out. I ended up just dropping it in and guiding it with very light pressure and a pin punch.
Are you sure the liner is in the right way? One end should have a very slight taper, which goes in first. Is there any chance that something is not right with the firing pin assembly
