Bought a used Remington R1 1911 today

I took it out to the range and shot it with some handloads I made up.

It did OK. I seem to have a little problem with reloading 45 ACP though. I used some Hornady HP bullets and they were hard to make come out right.

I'm going to switch to some Ex-treme RN bullets next and try those out of this pistol.

I've put over 100 rounds through the pistol this weekend. I have to report that the gun is very accurate and easy to shoot- not much recoil with the loads I'm making. It failed to feed a couple of times when I first tried it out but I think it was the bullets I was using (old reloads that I had to modify). Since then no problems after I cleaned up my reloading technique.

Feed failures I think were one of the issues these had from the factory. Appeared to be a rather common issue. I'd try it with some factory ammo first to see if it still fails before changing your load.

Cool. I've had zero issues w/ my carry commander. One issue surrounding it I found is when I shot my R1 then, shot a friend much older colt version, I want expecting the hammer bite!

No hammer bite here. Nothing bad about the pistol to report.
