The Canik's and EAA/Tanfoglio Witness line guns are all very nice, but that is because they are CZ clones :) If you ever get down in SoMD, I would certainly let you shoot any of my Caniks or my EAA Witness Elite Match 9mm.

Well, they say that imitation is the sincerest form of flattery. CZ's are probably one of the most-copied designs in history, probably because you couldn't obtain one that easily until the early-to-mid 90's.

Another CZ clone I like the more I see it is the Sphinx. I'd like to try one before I bought it but I think it's one of the better CZ knock-offs. Thanks for the offer to let me shoot one of your Caniks! I may have to take you up on that sometime when I'm in Southern MD.

OK, one more of the PCR:

I haven't even seen the Sphinx in person yet - another poster just picked one up and so I did a bit of research on it - sounds like an awesome gun!

Please let me know how the PCR shoots compared to the P01 - I am sincerely interested!

Cleaned it, dropped-in the SS guide rod, dolled it up with the VZ Diamondback grips, installed the rubber magazine base pads from CGW and off to the range to put a few boxes thru it...

What a fantastic pistol. Talk about living up to my expectations, I think the PCR may have exceeded all of them. First, the PCR's trigger was a lot better straight out of the box than either my 75B or my P-01. Second, the recoil is a joke. I was thinking it would be a little snappier than the P-01 but that wasn't the case at all. Third, I wasn't getting accuracy, like this, from either one of my other CZ's until I had put about 300 rounds thru them. Fourth, it just looks bad ass with those VZ grips. I love it.

You're killin' me smalls. That is a beautiful gun. The only thing I don't care for is the skinny trigger. Seems it would look better with a beefy one like the one on my Sig P239.

    Thanks! :D

The PCR has the CZ 85 Combat's serrated target trigger. It's a good bit wider than the 75B's or the P-01's smooth combat trigger. It does look skinny in the pic, though. The feel reminds me (a little) of the old serrated trigger that came standard on S&W revolvers.

I guess I should also mention that I did not experience one malfunction during the first 150 rounds I put thru it.

Got tired of looking at this on the wall at 2A Sales. Those basterds kept putting in in my hands...

I can't believe that I spent so much on a .22, but after my first range session, I have no regrets. :D

Since it will be a bench toy for now, I put an SWFA fixed power 16x42 on Warne rimfire "medium" rings. I really like this scope. Here are my first 5 shots with this CZ at 25 yds (scope was bore-sighted, but not fully sighted in yet).

    cz455-2.jpg

Once I got the scope sighted in a 50 yds (which took 4 rounds), I was able to put 4 out of 5 shots through the same ragged hole. Then, I decided to stretch out to 100 yds to see what would happen. Here's a typical group - 1 3/8". Tried a couple types of target ammo, the SK Rifle Match seemed to be the most consistent.

I was even able to make 6" groups at 200 yds with subsonic target ammo, however, I couldn't see the holes so I was just guessing hold over.. This is going to be a fun toy for quite a while!

I'm by no means a Facebook power-user but I find it worthwhile every now and then for product news and the occasional coupon from Cabelas, Gander Mountain, etc. One of the many firearms-related pages I follow is Česká zbrojovka a.s. - the official Czech CZ page in Uherský Brod. Yesterday, in my newsfeed I saw this photo from them:

A stainless 75B Compact? Yikes! Does anyone here know if that is a current model being produced for Europe only? Or is it an older model that was made in limited quantity before they stopped production of it? I realize the Hogue grips (probably) aren't stock but, I honestly wouldn't care what grips it came with from the CZ factory.

Alright Zzzzz_man, you are rubbing off on me. The PCR is indeed a fantastic pistol. Just a notch below my Sphinx. Super accurate without break-in. I put less than 100 rounds through it this morning.
