I tried to google Kevin Mont - his LinkedIn profile says that he retired June 1, 2013. I guess his injuries were more than he could bear as an officer. I hope his skills can be transitioned to something else - maybe as a trainer or other person in law enforcement. Or something all together...
Oh cool. Okay. I thought those guys were joking.
We still have some leg work to do. The more I'm poking around, the more I'm learning. My gut is to leave it at the museum for the time being, but I do want to try and learn as much as I can.
Thank you for the information.
Next question as it relates to this gun. We still don't know what we are goin tondo with it. Leave it there, ask to take it home or sell it.
Assuming we were to sell it, any suggestions on who to contact for that?
Thank you and Merry Christmas!!!!
It's at the museum at Point Lookout. We went down there earlier this year and boy were we disappointed!!!! I guess it was nice enough, but, ummm..... Sparse?
The young lady working was super nice and wanted to tell us all about the natural environment, but knew zero about the gun or the civil war.
As ashamed as I am to admit it, I am Blaster's friend :lol2:
Thanks for the help. The info online was hard to decipher, I didn't even know there was a Colt book. Probably wasn't using the best search words either. We're not sure if we'll try to sell it or just let it stay in the museum...
That's great! I also saw this one on YouTube.

Make sure you go all the way to the very end to catch his last line :)
An anti-gun coworker of mine was going on about the gunshow loophole and I asked him how it worked... Of course, he had no answer. I explained that I can't speak for other states, but no Maryland resident is getting away with anything.
So, is there some sort of 'loophole' in other states...
Interesting. I had no idea there was an approved list! Is this Handgun Roster the approved list?

I don't post much, but lately a bit more. Early on in this thread, there was a request for chicks to post pics. Trapped in a man's body? You be the judge:
Yes, that's me.
I live in Catonsville, am relatively new to guns and I appreciate the information I've been able to follow here...
Since this came up here, I have a question maybe someone can answer. Does the business have the FFL, or an individual (the owner)? Or can either?
I'm curious because a coworker was telling me that he was going to apply for a FFL and I got to thinking about it. So, use Just Guns as an...
Cool, thanks guys. I will call the office in Jacksonville and see if I can get an appointment. If not, I'll stop by Kevin's place and get the stuff I need. Notary is no problem for me, I work with a few of them.

look at question 6 on page 4, looks pretty clear to me, but again, this is why I'm asking if anyone has actually done it...
In looking at the documentation, a copy of the certificate from your competency training is sufficient. So the NRA basic pistol course I took several years ago should suffice. At least, that's what I'm understanding in looking at their rules. That's why I'm asking if anyone has done it and...
I have been searching for this on the site, but haven't found this specifically, sorry if I've missed info already posted.
In looking through the information and links I did find, I see that in FL, you can go to one of their regional offices and do the entire application process there. You...
I believe there's a thread on gun lock exchange in here somewhere. It's my understanding that the lock does not need to be installed, just with the gun.
