shopped there for years
I liked Fred's, and I liked the people who worked there. They didn't always have what I wanted, and when they did, it was rarely at the best price anywhere,
And...

That was the ticket, John THANKS!
Apparently a small bit of "crud" [Russian technical term] had found its way into the groove the rear of the spring fits into and was keeping it from seating properly.
Problem solved!
All the best,
Rob
thanks Gents - I'll give this a try. The way this spring it sitting, it looks like it's too long for the socket it sits in, yet I know it's the one that came out of there
:sad20:
does anyone know how to re-install the factory rear sight on a MN-44? I took off the rear sight to install a scope mount, which I've since removed, and I'm not having any success at all in reinstalling the factory rear sight.
I've tried using a C-clamp to compress the leaf spring, and the...
OK, I have 3 Marlins (one's really a Glenfield, but really...) and two 10/22s; DW has one of each.
I think out of the box that the Marlin 60s are more accurate. I think out of the box the 10/22's have better triggers. I can do my own trigger job on either one - if you can't, then the 10/22...
Thanks for all your comments. As it turned out, I didn't get a brake, and still managed to squeak out a 211 on my first qualifying target, thus earning my Rifleman Patch on the first try.
The next day I cleaned my "Red Coat Target" and earned the MD-only "Appleseed Maryland" patch :D
Thanks Norton - the guy askepd specifically for .50, so I'm going to keep looking for that. If I get hung up, I'll pm you.
Cheers,
Rob
p.s. - see you on the 6th?
Thanks Spank, I'm going to try to get everything from one source so I don't wind up messing up the returns when my friend is done.
If I wind up needing to take you up on this, I'll pm you separately.
Cheers,
Rob
I have a friend who's an author, writing a book about a sniper, and needs to borrow a couple of .50 rounds for his book pictures.
He'd like a total of five inert rounds, two complete, and three with separate brass and projectile. I'm guessing the total time would be maybe a month - given...
OK, so I'm doing the Appleseed shoot at AAF&G this weekend (1/19-20) and I started thinking about muzzle breaks for the two 10/22 I'm taking with me. Both have stock barrels, one is the SS Wally World @ 22", the other is a stock blued with barrel band 19"(?). I've never found the muzzle blast...
Check into classes at On Target while you're there - one of DW's friends is (or was) an instructor there.
I've always had a good time at On Target - they have a nice selection of rental guns (most could use a good cleaning, tho) and their indoor range has some of the best air filtration and...
I just signed up, and I'm totally looking forward to doing this.
And a special shout out to my mother-in-law, Mae, who gave this to me for a Christmas present, and to my DW who told me to go ahead and sign up :)
Did I marry well, or what!
Uhh, Norton, a 1000 watt panel is only 8 amps (about what my Fender Super win Reverb amp draws); it's obvious that electrical conducting isn't what you do best ;)
Now conducting Sondheim in 7/4 time with seven sharps in the key signature? GO FOR IT!

when I bought my Colt New Service revolver from a private individual, I put a padlock (padded) through one of the chambers on the open cylinder. The State Trooper looked at it, recorded the s/n, and put it back in the case I'd brought it in.
No questions asked.
According to the 32nd Ed. of the Blue Book of Gun Values they run from $325 to $1975
When I first saw this gun it was REALLY dirty and appeared to be in somewhat worse condition that it actually is. Still, there is some rust on the barrel and crane, and almost no bluing on the front and...
Thanks!
I think this is one of the very few pieces I have - or will likely ever have - that won't see much range time. I just wasn't going to let this one go by without at least trying for it.
OK, so this week I'm the proverbial blind pig and lucked into an acorn. Normally, I can't find my butt with both hands, much less find a firearm that I'm actually willing to break open my wallet for, so without further ado...
