One thing that may be worth mentioning is I doubt calipers that cost less than a couple hundred dollars are especially accurate in the thousands of an inch range. So a .005 difference wouldn't freak me out.

I didn't list my address or phone number, just Maryland, and I got a reply from pretty much everyone. Though about 10 of them were auto-replies and the rest had varying degrees of "form letter" feel to them.
I did this with a deer pre 9/11, Indiana to Maryland. Only bad part was the over weight baggage fee. Other than that it was pretty much a piece of cake. I'm not sure what extra rules may be in place now, if any.
