no.. didnt. after few slam w/ my palm.. it loosen... it was using russian steel cased ammo.

i use reloads most of the time on my 700.. w/ no issues at all..

Reloaders are always defensive when I bring up reloading issues.

    When it happens..............it happens

Mosins are VERY strong actions. They can take the pressure, its still not wise to do that though.

The 54R is a rimmed case. I wonder how they got the bolt to chamber it correctly since with the rim the case diameter is larger. Hmmn...
Sounds like it worked out, but I still don't think I'd try to replicate it.

That is why I don't reload!

Actually, I do not know how to reload. My attention span is too short to learn the process. I'm sticking with cheap military surplus for now.

Lx1x... when your reloads cause the bolt handle on your Rem700 to fly off... Before that happens, remind me to stay at the left side of you while at the firing line.

I can't seem to figure out why everyones talking about reloading. I never fired a shot with the gun and it's a factory load that's stuck in there.

    Clandestine,
I was gonna post the 2 pc. bolt handle thing, but as usual you beat me to it. :D I've been down at hafers and have seen a few of these come in broke off like that. Tim has to fix'em. He then warned me against 2pc in favor of a 1pc unit. This is why i bought my weatherby vanguard .308. One piece ordnance grade steel bolt.

We will attribute that to you eating too much " Wheaties"
Most of us Rem 700 owners are still in shock and denial that stuff like that can happen. It feels like the day I found out that Santa isn't real.:D

I thought thats why you sent it out for a new tube, wouldnt shoot reloads....? I could be misremembering. I wasnt attacking you Armed Ferret, just conveying why it usually happens when R700 bolts shear off.

If its doing this on factory .308 loads then the smith likely didnt cut the chamber right.

Now I border on a thread hijack, but which is considered the stronger design: The Remington 700 with the soldered handle, or a savage 110 with the bolted down removable handle?

    Remington is stronger.

The pins in Savage 1xx Bolts break far more often that R700 handles shear off.

As someone who wants to get into reloading, and knows someone who has a R700 who will be sharing the reloading equipment with me, I am curious as to why this would happen with reloads. I'm a noob to reloading, so I have no clue.
