    Oh?

Maybe you should get the 975K people that came up with "Somewhere to Smile about" to think of something for another half million or so. :lol2:

Staff told the council last week that 99 of the 300 respondents favored the Third Street Park moniker used by locals for decades. At the end of this week’s meeting, however, Gehrig asked the council to revisit the naming issue at a future work session.

“I’m just asking for some consideration and maybe adding it to a future agenda,” he said, “just to brainstorm some ideas with our expert team and not rely on 300 random people on social media, 99 of which made this decision.”

    Yep. "Experts!"

They're just tearing down our institutions one after another. They might create factional violence between the 4th Streeters and the 3rd Street Traditionalists dragging all this up.

Plus, how are tourists going to know where it is if they rename it?

Or 'Francis Scott Key Memorial Truist Bank Field at Third and Fourth Street Park'?

Then add a statue of a meth guy or something. Is there any kind of Confederate Statue still there to take down? Like from the 1st Squad 3rd Street Irregular Volunteer Army of the Assawoman? I'm just asking as I'm not familiar with the place. I'm just seeing a big opportunity for OC to appease the latest popular woke SJW trend.

Has anyone told them about Stinky Beach?
Or is West OC out of their jurisdiction?
They can't do anything over the bridges.

As for the 3rd St Park, Basketball Park or Skate Park, damn town is run by Realtors. They only think about lining their pockets.

Petito noted the all-in budget for the project sits at around $6.1 million, though not all of that money has been spent. However, a newly acquired federal grant – totaling $1.4 million – could push the project’s budget to $6.5 million.

What's the point in using the grant to reduce costs for local taxpayers?

The Park commissioner has a legacy to fulfil!

Let's see if he comes up during the re-naming process.

For me, I do consider this my legacy project, and I’m so proud of what our Town-team has accomplished,” she said. “From identifying the need for the park’s improvement, to working through the property deeding, to conducting all of the community surveys and meetings, to engaging the support of the OCDC, to getting Council’s support to fund the project, going through the two-year federal grant funding process, and now actually seeing the result of all that hard work, is incredibly exciting.”

"Petito Park at Third Street" is my entry.
