If one of these people got seriously hurt or killed the riots would make 2020 look tame.

I can see your point, but this isn't a First Amendment related activity and this isn't Black-bloc/Antifa. Many of the offenders are readily identifiable (except for those in "COVID masks"), and I'd find it hard to believe there isn't some long lens surveillance on this field given its proximity to The White House and The Washington Monument.

MPD didn't respond to this at all. They deferred to US Park Police given that it was Federal Property.

*****THIS. They should be rammed off the road and hauled into prison, vehicles confiscated, and forced to pay any restitution if the vehicles are stolen and for any property damage they commit.

It isn't even really a racial thing, though seemingly just about *every* chucklehead in that video on the bikes seems to be Black, who are disproportionally involved in this type of crime at least relative to their numbers in the general population.

Due to cultural sensitivities I imagine the police are somewhat afraid of doing what needs to be done for fear of losing their jobs, or being recorded and having the video put online for the BLM and Antifa folks to start shouting off about racism or whatever stupidity they come up with to move the blame from anyone but the stupid people engaging in this anarchy.

At some point, there will come a time where someones little kid is hurt, and several end up on the receiving end of a mag dump into their worthless carcasses, or a parent in an SUV is scared by these folks blocking the road and just runs over a bunch of them trying to get away from the craziness.

I can't believe the police are so hamstrung by this - it is a solvable problem but it will take a big change in attitudes on fighting (literally) crime. Sometimes, the only thing people really understand is force, lots of it, and applied generously. Let the lawyers and families cry a river as a miscreant criminal kid is taken out of the gene pool, or hauled off to prison basically forever to make personalized license plate tags, bust rocks, or teach home economics to other prisoners.

I don't think all of them are stolen. I don't see many of these Bikes/ATV's around town otherwise. These were acquired specifically for "wilding out." Maybe the cars I saw were stolen.

Keeping them in prison will keep them from stealing again and disrupting the peace while they're in there.

House Oversight should have another hearing.... Won't do any good as this is an Executive Branch failure, but it would at least call attention to it and Congress could exercise its authority over Federal Property and DC's failure to address this while the offenders were on City Property coming from/going to the Mall.

Was out for a walk this fine evening on The National Mall and I saw what must have been over 100 ATV’s/Motorbikes and at least 20 cars drive onto The National Mall grass area between the west side of The Washington Monument and east side of The World War 2 Memorial to do doughnuts and have a sideshow/meet up. I couldn’t believe what I was seeing and where it was happening. Dust clouds were flying everywhere. The air reeked of exhaust and noise from what must have been straight pipes.

Falls under the jurisdiction of the US Park Police, which only responded with a couple vehicles and a couple bikes after what must have been 15 minutes after I walked up on it. Friend of mine told me that USPP apparently has a no-chase policy thanks to the politicians, so I guess that’s why they weren’t seemingly in a rush to show up in appreciable force.

The Nation’s Capital is going to hell… It’s going to be a long hot summer. Stay safe.
