I can’t help but wonder if the process is slowed down when people check their status online. I’ve heard that if you call Utah to inquire about the status of your application, which can’t be checked online and they offer no email feedback about progress, they’ll dig up your paperwork and tell you the status, then they’ll drop it at the bottom of the pile to start the wait from the beginning.

Since MD is all automated, checking the status online shouldn’t affect anyone unless their server resources are so limited that each request noticeably degrades their performance. But, I can see some wiseass web developer just trying to mess with people by bumping an application down the queue every time they check. I also wonder if the investigators have access to the number of times we look.

There are multiple people processing applications so it is not completely in turn. However the average time between application accepted to application approved remains consistent +/- with the other applications being processed at the same time.

Current processing time is about 43 to 46 days.

    My application number is 23HGP017xxx
    Submitted 2/11
    Accepted 2/17
    Approved 4/1
    Permit number: 23HGP-1470xx

I have NOT received my card. Called the licensing division today and they said they has up to 30 days after approval to issue.

Anyone have a similar experience not receiving their card after approval?

The delay in receipt is usually in USPS not MSP.

Have been hoping that, combined with Easter being in between today and my approval notice (4/1). I asked the licensing division if they could verify if it was mailed and they wouldn’t. Said they have 30 days after approval so just wait it out. Today is business day 12, so I’ll give them 2 more and call back. Hoping it wasn’t lost in the mail and just want to confirm it was printed & mailed. Others have reported a very fast turnaround from approval to receipt with approval dates after mine. Good luck all And appreciate this resource!

It would be nice if we could get decent customer service even if there is no competition. It’ll never happen though.

How much better service would you consider adequate?
Less than a year ago most of us could not even get an HGP and MSP took at least 90 days to approve the handful of applications they did receive.
Now they have processed over 80,000 applications and do it in less than 50 days.
WAY too much whine in this thread. Need to pick up some cheese and crackers to go with it.

I was referring to the phone call Phoenix had with MSP where they wouldn’t even tell him if his card had been mailed. The fact that most people seem to have their card in hand within a week of approval does raise some concerns. I understand their side though, they’re probably inundated with phone calls every day from people needing constant hand holding during the application process. I think asking if a card has been mailed yet is reasonable though.

A number of people have had their permits lost in the mail and when they call they all get the same answer. It is all recorded in this thread you just have to read the posts to find it. I have seen nothing "new" (that has not already happened to some one) in months. It has happened and people eventually get their permits unlike what happened prior to Bruen.
