Why does being ignorant of the law excuse those charged with enforcing it but, not those who it would be enforced on?

My point was they aren’t enforcing laws on the books but instead stopping and detaining law abiding citizens for traveling on public roads while exercising their rights.

The reason I cited the drunken nudity, my family was on the beach at OC this summer and had drunken whores dancing about with each other and had exposed parts of their nudity next to my children, which per the law is considered indecent exposure and pedophila to expose yourself around children. One of the few times I called the police, and the mayors office. We immediately left the beach once it started but guess who never showed up to deal with them at the beach… I guess they were too busy detaining a law abiding citizen practicing their rights at the time…

I get it some police don’t know how to deal with us citizens who can legally carry. They all need to be formally trained from the beginning regardless of Bruen or other rulings… it’s still a right and they should uphold, not harass that right.

I also get those drunken whores where just being drunken whores and didn’t have any intentions of targeting my children… BUT it’s laws on the books and let’s be honest if your going to blatantly violate the law and the police don’t do anything about it after tax paying law abiding citizens call in… instead to busy harassing law abiding citizens… it’s further eroding my support for the LE community. Which isn’t good as I still support them but seeing more and more that as a tax payer really disgusts me.

So you went out of your way to invite the AG to issue an opinion that open carry isn't allowed?

I think people who open carry are inviting a whole lot of trouble, both in the immediate and long term. It does not take a rocket surgeon to understand that most people do not see firearms on a day to day basis, and seeing someone carrying "big iron" strolling down the street is invite trouble. I am a pessimist, but that's just how things go. People are of course, based on the law, well within their right to do so.

That being said, AG opinions are a real thing. Just look at what happened in Massachusetts with the re-interpretation of the assault weapons ban. The original ban targeted Colt AR15s etc and similar, but AG Healey's office offered a new interpretation to go after copy cat weapons (pretty similar to how MD law stipulates copy cats to a colt AR-15, but without the HBAR exemption). Some stores tell the AG to pound sand, while some bow down to this "interpretation" of a law. End result is not great for the 2A.

These things do happen, so flaming this user for brining up a valid issue is not prudent. AGs can and do interpret enforce laws differently, and if found unconstitutional they are peepee slapped but not before damage has been done. Not saying don't exercise your rights, but in the same breath I am acknowledging how reckless it is to "test the police" with open carrying. I'd also encourage people to look into becoming grey men/women. Don't stick out in a crowd.

I mean how many of us here at MDS have seen people whip their hog out at Seacrets and piss into the water we're standing in? Should I have called the national guard? Next time, should I use my HAM radio and start broadcasting BROKEN ARROW to all available frequencies, because I have see what appears to be a phallus in public? Open carry IS illegal in Florida.

But not if you are engaged in hunting OR fishing. A lot of guys carry around fishing gear so that they can OC. Usually as a way to mess with police.
