    Liability, the scenario of shooting someone, awkward to carry a gun concealed.
    I prefer to avoid places where I may need to carry a gun but there are folks who need and deserve to carry and I'm thankful for them to have the right.
    Protecting yourself and others from harm is a good enough reason to carry.
    As far as being robbed, the amount of cash you carry and your phone or car is not worth the lawyer fees, being sued and prosecuted. You'll probably not get your gun back even if you shoot it in your own home.
    I think the new legislative session is going to bring new challenges, restrictions and requirements to the law. Maybe turn over your social media accounts, require insurance, mental health examine.
    Maryland's state's attorney will criminalize you for protecting yourself, charge you with murder and make the perp the victim.
    There are 2 types of people, those that refuse to be a victim, that will lay down their life to protect their family, will not trust a criminal to ensure their safety, and will defend themselves as a basic right, law be damned. The other type thinks like the above post.

    I think the in the coming days liberal politicians will learn that the unconstitutional gun laws they are attempting to push though are not going to fly. With the recent decision in the New York case the courts can no longer entertain the claims of state governments make of putting their interest over the people. The two part test that used to be part of the decision process is gone.

    Repeat: Protecting yourself and others from harm is a good enough reason to carry!
    Just thinking the scenario of becoming Brian Frosh's victim.

    it really comes down to the core beliefs of the people who are on your jury ….

    Maryland Pattern Jury Instructions-Criminal (MPJI-Cr)

    MD MPJI-Cr 5:07 Self-defense

    You have heard evidence that the defendant acted in self-defense. Self-defense is a complete defense and you are required to find the defendant not guilty if all of the following four factors are present:

    (1) the defendant was not the aggressor [[or, although the defendant was the initial aggressor, [he] [she] did not raise the fight to the deadly force level]];
    (2) the defendant actually believed that [he] [she] was in immediate and imminent danger of bodily harm;
    (3) the defendant’s belief was reasonable; and
    (4) the defendant used no more force than was reasonably necessary to defend [himself] [herself] in light of the threatened or actual harm.

    [Deadly force is that amount of force reasonably calculated to cause death or serious bodily harm. If you find that the defendant used deadly-force, you must decide whether the use of deadly-force was reasonable. Deadly force is reasonable if the defendant actually had a reasonable belief that the aggressor’s force posed an immediate and imminent threat of death or serious bodily harm.]

    [[In addition, before using deadly-force, the defendant is required to make a reasonable effort to retreat. The defendant does not have to retreat if [the defendant was in [his] [her] home], [retreat was unsafe], [the avenue of retreat was unknown to the defendant], [the defendant was being robbed], [the defendant was lawfully arresting the victim]]. [If you find that the defendant did not use deadly-force, then the defendant had no duty to retreat.]

    In order to convict the defendant, the State must prove that self-defense does not apply in this case. This means that you are required to find the defendant not guilty, unless the State has persuaded you, beyond a reasonable doubt, that at least one of the four factors of complete self-defense was absent.

    That begs the second question what do you think a fair price for a 16 hour course be?

    That's a fair question. One place I looked at was $350/person and had 38 people in the class. I think that's excessive. I'd think $200 for a class that size but right now, places are getting it.

    Just biding my time. Waiting to see where all the pieces land in the next few months.

    I have FL and VA permits that have been my staples for several years.

    I may regret waiting, or not.

    I have not really looked at courses yet but I would need an evening class after work for at least half of it

    My son and I are interested so I may have to set up something private for us maybe?

    My weekends are often booked

    I say it in jest, and my post says 25, not 2.

    25 as in the number of live rounds required for the qualification.

    Humor isn't for everyone I suppose.
