I just applied for my CCW via the MDSP portal. I need to go tomorrow to livescan $76.00 to get PCN #. Then I can submit application. My reason , was 2nd Amendment for personal protection of myself and Family.I would like to think the SCOTUS ruling will be followed in Maryland Law. Brian Frosh knew all along it was a Scam to invoke GASR for CCW.
This has been a long road and certainly worth the Wait...God Bless our Supreme Court and Constitution!!!

I just finished one on Monday. My next one is in July. I am in Baltimore County Maryland. Licensed and insured.

I was told if you have your DC or VA ccw, that training time can be used toward MD
Pretty sure MD only accepts MD specific training. It does work the other way around, though. DC will accept the MD 16 hours of training provided you get training on DC law either in that class (assuming it's with a DC approved instructor) or a separate one and do the 2 hours of range time/50 round qualification (and get an exemption to apply the MD training to cover the 16 hour part of the requirement).

It's easier and cheaper to take care of it in a class that covers both MD and DC requirements. I'm doing it the hard way right now since I didn't fully think through that decision (already have my MD training, getting the DC law portion/range session mid-July).

I registered for my ccw class the day after the ruling.

Do I have to be a MD resident to apply? I am moving there in August for school and would like to get this process started ASAP since I'll be living in Baltimore.

Also, what's the turnaround time from class/training complete until the approve your application?

You don't need to be a MD resident to apply. MSP is supposed to process permits in 90 days from the time an application is submitted and accepted. When you take the training does not have any real direct bearing on MSP's turnaround time. You obviously need to complete the training before you submit your application, though. Training is valid to support an application as long as it was completed within two years prior to the application.

I have 2 questions about my MD CCW qualification,

Do I have to qualify with the gun i plan to carry?

Do i have to remove the red dot sight from my pistol to qualify or can I use it?

No, and no, unless your instructor insists on it for some odd personal reason. There is nothing in the law about the details of the firearm you qualify with, other than it needs to be capable of safely completing the required course of fire.

We are a MD dealer and we have been chatting with MDSP. It will be until august / September until they have the final opinion from the states attorney. Submitting now will just queue your app or they will send it back. We have been suggesting for all our customers to get the training and finger printing done and have everything ready to file end of august. MDSP are very good to work with but they expect to be slammed and they will need to rewrite their software also. Just keep that in mind!

August or September? That’s some fvcking bullsh*t. I hope Frosh gets sued back to the Stone Age.
