Very nice! A near perfect Speedmaster 321 jump started my infatuation for fine mechanical timepieces. Sure wish I still had it..... absolutely classic and perfect symmetry.

My first ever smart watch, a Garmin Instinct Solar Tactical. I was a G-Shock loyalist for more than 20 years, but I wanted a fitness tracker. The G-Shock fitness trackers SUCK. This, this is effortless and I really like the display. It has bells and whistles that I'll never use, but I like it.

Quoting my own post here... I've now worn this watch for about nine months. Two major impressions that might be worth sharing:

    - The Solar version of this watch is about $100 more than the non-solar. It isn't worth it. Barring a true SHTF scenario where there is simply no power available, it isn't feasible to charge this watch using its solar cells. I was in full, direct July sun for 8 hours on Friday. I added one day worth of battery life. My solar G-Shocks are orders of magnitude better about solar charging.

    - This thing is a gadget nerd's dream come true. I still don't use 80% of the available features. Those of you already using smart watches would likely have an easier time. I keep the manual bookmarked on my phone because I don't find the menus instinctive.

    Minor note:

    - It is a solid watch. I've worn it everywhere and it looks good as new. I did put a screen protector on it but the bezel does a nice job of protecting the screen.

Nice! Darn criminals... I lost my Speedmaster to burglary while I was deployed to the first Gulf War. l left it home with my wife thinking it would be safer there with her in our apartment in Minneapolis. Besides, the Air Force issued us all two new watches just before we deployed. Lost the Speedmaster, a bunch of Canon camera lenses and three 35mm bodies--A1 and 2 AE-1s. An Eddy Bauer extreme cold weather parka and an Ithaca 12 gauge Feathermaster pump shottie-- among other stuff. Darn criminals---

Man I used to wear a watch all the time but stopped about 6 yrs ago when I got my first smart phone. I have been thinking of getting the apple watch but I just cant see myself wearing one all the time now.

I did get a watch that I keep in my GHB in my car and this thread reminds me that I probably need to check the batteries.

I wanted my folks to get me a Rolex Submariner when I graduated High School. It would have cost $160 then; today multiply that x50. They got me a cheap knockoff that turned my wrist green. It dragged me all over town as I chased the time. I discovered I hated watches because of that and the green thing.

Now that I could probably afford one, I don't need to know what time it is, and I don't believe in wealth-signaling on the street - it attracts all the wrong kind of attention. Still, there's some charm in a fine timepiece. Maybe a pocketwatch?

Very nice. A good buddy has a collection of vintage Hamiltons. He must have 15-20, all American made.

I have a collection of Hamiltons, only one of which is vintage.
Problem for me is watches are like guns…..they multiply.

I don’t want to hurt your feelings even more but if you want to go out and purchase a new 126610LN Submariner tomorrow it would cost you exactly 100x of that original $160 price. Don’t ask me how I know. LOL.... ;)

    take care...

You can get a fine timepiece for much less than 8K. While nice, Rolex is way overpriced these days.

It’s insane right now. I sold this older IWC Portofino chrono (based on Valjoux 7750 movement) for $1100 more than I paid for it several years ago, and it's not even a particularly sought after model.

I miss it sometimes but i couldn’t pass up the $.

Had this Marathon for about a year now. Built like a tank. Smaller brand but worth a look.

The SēL may be the marathon killer. All titnium. Love the tank tread bracelet. Local guy here in tucson making them. 5 large is quite the pill to swallow however.

I’ve probably purchased 10 Rolexes from David and never once has the experience been less than 1000% perfect and I always have the watch the next morning via FedX. He’s been my go-to guy for decades.

Btw, go check the prices on those exact models now, only 2 months later.
