So, figured I'd share the notice I just got from Fedex a few minutes ago (nothing to do with JoeBobs btw). "We are unable to complete delivery....Incorrect Address."

Nope. Address is exactly right. Funny thing is that I saw the Fedex truck drive by about an hour ago and stop at a house across the street and a few doors down. Didn't think too much of it at the time but I'm thinking someone messed up. I guess I get my fruit basket tomorrow. Notice says I'm to contact them to "correct" the address but I think we all know what happened.

I'll update if it turns out to be more nefarious tomorrow.

USPS is noted for doing this. It has to do with meeting their criteria, deadlines.

    Notice, not with JBO.

We had USPS play that game. We got the notice in the mailbox saying there was an item requiring signature and nobody was home. Wife is home everyday and the dogs go nuts if anyone gets near the door but she didn't hear anything. 2nd day my wife was waiting for the delivery and found the same note in the mailbox. Third day i was home waiting to see the carrier. When she pulled up to my mailbox i went out and yelled as she was pulling away "Where is my package?", she leaned out her window and said it was in the box. Well i went out got the item and took the notes to the local post office. I asked for the boss and showed her the notes and the package that was left in the box. The delivery supervisor (real position??) said she would talk to the driver. We had a new driver a couple weeks later.

I think all the delivery services have pulled the "undeliverable" BS excuse with me at least once...and it is usually some how deliverable the very next day. Except for Fedex...whenever I see Fedsux is the carrier (certainly not chosen by me), I figure there are equal odds that I will find my package somewhere out in the front fields where they chucked it out of the truck as they drove by, or I'm going to have to drive to the distribution center and get it myself.:sad20:

For a few years I had the same USPS driver, but now there's a new person every couple months. I think they went contractor for that role and it's not going all that well.

Fedex Ground is run by contractors where independents own the local routes. Fedex Express is run by Fedex. We currently ship most of our packages via Fedex Express with 2 Day Air shipping. Exceptions are small packages (USPS first class) and heavy stuff/ammo (Fedex Ground).

I just ordered a hand guard. I'm sure it will be here by morning. FEDex better not make me wait until lunch time!

I'd say Monday before supper time. :lol2:

I had one of those USPS "sorry we missed you" notes in my box when I was waiting for a rifle to be delivered. She didn't miss me, she didn't even try to deliver it. I was home all day and heard her drive by. I got my card from the mailbox and stopped her while she was delivering the other side of the street. Then I realized why she didn't deliver it. She must have forgotten the grease that she would have needed to slide herself from behind the steering wheel and back in again.

Being a "big boy" myself, I can sympathize, but if your weight/size is stopping you from doing your job, you need a different job.

Lol. I had opposite a few times with usps. Used to have same guy for couple years. He would call me to let me know he was close and I would meet at another mailbox group to get my secret uppers so my wife would not know. Alas, she figured out and was fine with it- I mean tolerated it :)

Man does that explain the horribly inconsistant fedex ground in my area, always thought it was just fedex that sucked

As Joe Bob has stated, Fedex Ground is independently owned but they are supposed to follow FEDEX policy and procedures. That said, if you have a bad company in your area, you would be better to pick it up at the distribution center than banking on them to deliver on time.

I have ordered a few things from JB's. Good prices and good service is my experience. I probably order more stuff from Natchez. I have been a customer of theirs since before the internet. Again good prices and good service. But as an accountant I recognize that good prices means low margins for the seller. So at least for me it's a two way street. With Natchez I had a situation pre internet where they mislabeled some premium 9mm ammo as 50 per box when it was only 25 per box. There was no question that they made a mistake because it was printed in their paper sale flyer that I got in the mail. Anyway again this was pre-internet I called them and they did give me an additional discount but it was not the full difference between the stated price for a 50 round vs 25 round box. Guy told me he was losing money at the discount he gave me. Maybe I'm just too easy but I agreed to it and kept using them. I knew the price was amazing when I ordered it. And I still got a good deal. If it wasn't ammo I could have returned it but ammo would have been a hassle.

Maybe I could have pushed the issue but I have found that sometimes helping the other guy even when he makes a mistake is a better way to live.

Anyway after reading this thread I discovered that:

1 JoeBob's continues to be a great place to buy stuff.
2 HSTD is a really clever user name.

Figured I'd update since Fedex doesn't always get the most love around here. My package arrived this morning much earlier than is typical for our neighborhood. The package had an "Urgent" label on it that also had "Address is Correct" handwritten on it in bold magic marker. No intervention by me at all. All's well that ends well.

My experiences with USPS is primarily that they deliver quickly ........ To the wrong address .

Not just me , but everyone, from both verbal, and by the percentage of misdirected mail I receive . And multiple people have recieved the same response :

A few years ago to increase * Route Productivity * all of the carriers are ordered to strictly deliver the mail as it comes machine sorted , and are specifically forbidden from verifying addresses . Alas , in a rural area that for decades had perfectly good RR Box numbers , when converted to actual numbers , everyone's addresses are long strings of 1s,0s, 2s, and 4s , and are apparently easy to misscan .

And the USPS is tickled . The carriers are indeed quicker on their routes when it doesn't matter where its delivered.

So my preference is always Anybody but USPS .

Service will vary depending on the Carrier. A good Carrier (the Regular not a Sub) knows all the Customers names, and is required to finger each piece of mail, for correct delivery. Any 1st class mail out of sequence must be delivered.

Order something from Joe Bobs on a Saturday and it is at the house by Tuesday with fast shipping like that it is hard to hide things from the wife. Have to learn to order on a Thursday (when we get back to working in the office) so I can get it before she does :) . Maybe Joe Bobs should do like other products . plain wrapper with no return address :lol2: . The only packages the wife opens is from Joe Bobs. USPS story from this week which shows how crappy they are. Needed something from a co-worker in Philly I said I will drive up and get it he was worried about social distancing. Told him I will stay in the car he can put on his porch and he can put it outside. No response for about a hour. He than emails me back that he sent it 1 day deliver (from Philly and worried about social distancing but went to the post office SMH) . The envelope did not leave Philly till Friday morning than went to Hyattsville with a delivery date of Monday (on a over night delivery) it left Baltimore yesterday at 450am and was delivered yesterday. This is the Government at its best. At least it was not something as important as a piece for a firearm
