On January 17, 2020, President Donald Trump pointed to the gun control situation in Virginia, noting that it proves once more the Democrats “will take your guns” if voted into office.

He made this point amid the all-out war on guns by Gov. Ralph Northam (D) and the newly elected Democrat majority in the state legislature.

I will say first I like President Trump and will vote for him . But if he could sell our 2A rights, he would for something that means more to him , it is all about the art of the deal .IMHO

I don't find that to be the case. If he actually offered up his willingness to go along with something crazy like a national AWB, he could buy a lot of power-brokering with the lefties. But he won't go near it. If nothing else, his own lack of deep knowledge/passion about it is more than made up for by his very gun-centric son's presence in his ear.

I really hope VA serves as a wake up call to complacent Moderates, Independents and Republicans that 2020 isn't going to a cakewalk where Trump wins every state except California and Republicans win supermajorities in both houses and Democrats just stay home.

VA Republicans look very much like the Democrats the day after the 2016 election in my opinion.

He only won't go near it because he wants to get reelected. I am concerned about an anti gun push in his second term. Especially after the bump stock ban. Hopefully with this mess in Virginia voters will make a statement the next election.

We can disagree , but I remember the Bump-stock issue and how fast he threw that out .
He is not a gun guy , he is a business man that is good at being President .
He will negotiate if need be .

We can disagree , but I remember the Bump-stock issue and how fast he threw that out .

What I remember is WHY he did that through an administrative action instead of allowing it to turn into what would have - right in the wake of mass killings -been a legislative nightmare far worse for us. Read up on what the congresscreatures were saying behind the scenes at that moment. The left had far uglier things teed up to push through congress, and it would have passed because of the press around Vegas and Florida. He headed a much bigger trainwreck off at the pass, and did so with an easily challenged and trivially reversed approach. He had real world politics to fight with there, made the least of it possible.

My main point in my post is that if you put 100% blind faith in Men you will come up on the short side every time . Be careful of complete trust of our politicians , there are Republicans that will sell out in a heart beat to score what they perceive as a prize bill or law .

This year I again will vote for President Trump because he is best for the job , I will not vote for any Democrat for any reason , but remember the Art of the Deal .

Except, what it showed was him saying "no way!" to visa abuse, and then saying something else about something else entirely. So, not sure why that would stand as an example of anything at all along those lines.
