I have a 6” 1911. It is a bullseye pistol. I wouldn’t use it for any action sport since the length and weight are not as svelte handling as a 5” gun. But for precision shooting the muzzle heft and sight radius are enhancements.

I've got the Springfield Armory Longslide in 45, must have bought it over 20 years ago, been a great 1911. I don't see them in 45 listed on Springfield's web site, maybe give them a call and see if they still make it.

I thought Springfield made one but can't find it on their website...

I think it was pretty short-lived. I've got one I bought new in 2012.
Only put about 100 rounds through it, not enough to say much about it other than it was pretty accurate.
    Take-down/reassembly is a pain though.
With a couple of the original Colt "long slides" :)

You or Augie decide to get up off yours keep me in mind. Admittedly I'm not familiar with pricing on them.

Blue Book is $950-1100 but pricing hasn't been updated since 2012.
2 sold on GunBroker in last 3 months for $750 ea but both had visible scratches and wear.

Springfield does make a new TRP longslide though. It's a little more expensive ($1400-1500-ish). I'm biased but I don't think it looks as sexy with the rail underneath and extended dust cover.

Years ago I bought a AMT long slide hardballer. Had to send it back to the factory because the inside of the barrel was being torn up buy factory ammo. The lands were literally coming off in chunks. Hardballer was a good name for it because that’s all it would feed. Any hollow points jammed up. Sold it and never looked back. You mileage may vary.

A rail does not belong on a 1911

Thanks, yours is a beaut also. I must have bought it the first year they were available. Got it from the shop that was in Burtonsville, can't remember the name.
He had 3 in the case, 2 45's and a 45 Super, kind of wish I had bought the Super also.

    Discontinued for quite a while...

Interesting. My V16 in .45 Super has a manufacturing date of 2000. Love that pistol. Extremely accurate, especially with the now defunct Triton ammunition. It was my EDC back when I lived in Michigan. Harvested a lot of whitetails, 3 hogs and a black bear with it. Carried it when I hunted Sitka deer in Alaska. 10mm and .44 mag want to be the .45 Super when they grow up.

I have an AMT Hardballer Longslide. I’m the second owner - have the box and all of the original paperwork. The gun is A POS. Poor fit and finish and it is a jammomatic. Mags and gun need to be reworked (including the aluminum) - just haven’t had time or interest to do so. Save your money or look to fire one before you buy it if possible.
