Thanks; oddly enough it makes me feel better.

For me it makes for better optics to have kids there for the freedom hating press, but I admit that I worry my little one being in the middle of a counter protest, and you and I both know how civil Liberals (some Fudds too) are.

Will MDS have a rally point to show the MGA our solidarity/ show of force?

    .
A group of us are parking in Union Station, should arrive 11:30ish.

Otherwise look for the PP and MDS flags, you can't miss us.

    Anyone bringing their kids?

I have a 9 year old that I plan on taking (share custody so no way out of it) but I'm worried that this could get put of hand with counter protest.

    .

I'm bringing my 10 yr old.

you're kidding right? Metro will now be swamped, road closures are going to make traffic in DC impossible to navigate and the rally will get next to no coverage...(not that it was going to get much on a Saturday anyway)
    Nope.

There are a thousand ways to get to Union Station even with the parade route closed and I don't ride the freak show.

Coverage by the MSM has already been addressed up thread.

No need for Debbie Downers, if it's too much for you then stay home.

It depends...one perspective, Metro is running more frequently because of the Nats games, so that makes it a little easier to bear.

FYI...Metro Busses are on strike so don't count on them, if you were thinking of it.

    .

I believe that strike is limited to a few lines in Virginia and should not be much of an issue Saturday.

The Nats celebration will certainly impact traffic and Metro, but as far as coverage of the 2A rally, those who were going to cover it will and those who were not going to, will not.

So twice an hour, with a breakdown at Stadium Armory for every other train? :innocent0

Sadly, Mrs. Beo had minor surgery yesterday, so I'm now relegated to servant status for the weekend. And PLS send my best wishes to R&R.

I'm a frequent rider as well, so I share your pain.

Metro will definitely be on a weekend schedule, I thought there was a game 7 for some reason.

Hoping for a Mrs. Beo's speedy recovery.

Just heart Metro is running rush hour service Saturday, 10:30 a.m.-6 p.m. That should help.

Being realistic is not being a Debbie Downer. I think giving people a false sense that travelling there will be easy is more damaging, but that's just me.

I know that if I were expecting travel to be a breeze and I ended up in (inevitable) traffic, I'd be more pissed about it and more likely to turn around. If I expected it, I'd be more likely to persevere.

I worked Saturday afternoons in the building next door to Union Station for over 7 years and North Capitol St was always my go to way to easily get there. It seemed like no matter what was going on in DC, i always made it to work on time going down North Cap.

Metro / transit issues for rally

For anyone making the trek to DC:
    Getting there
Metro. Metro will be open during its normal Saturday hours of 7 a.m. to 1 a.m. The rail system will run extra trains to accommodate the larger crowds and operate at rush-hour levels between 10:30 a.m. and 6 p.m. The additional trains, sponsored by Xfinity, will keep service at rush-hour levels all day.

Trains will arrive every three to four minutes in downtown, and departures from end-of-line stations will be every six to 12 minutes, the transit agency said. Parking at Metro lots and garages is free on weekends, but expect them to fill up early. Expect crowded trains and platforms, too. All previously scheduled track work has been canceled, except for overnight work.

The stations closest to the parade route are Federal Triangle, Archives and Judiciary Square, but expect them to be very crowded. Consider using Metro Center, Gallery Place or Union Station as alternates, all of which are less than a 10-minute walk from the parade route.

    Metrobus.
Routes that travel near the Mall may be detoured. Riders should expect delays as a result of road closures. Instead of using the bus, consider taking Metrorail to get to the celebration.
