The problem with this task force is that they appear to have an unstated foundation that to end gun violence requires a reduction of and eventual end to gun ownership.
If the problem is defined as "gun violence", eliminating guns would be the logical conclusion to end it. No guns, no gun violence, just as surgical removal of everyone's heart would end the scourge of heart disease, while not actually improving anyone's overall health.
But if the issue is more accurately defined as "criminal violence", or just "violence", then lawful, individual gun possession is component of the solution, rather than the locus of the problem.
