    Survey...

I do not do surveys of any kind unless I know precisely who or what poses the question.
    Period.
The fun part is seeing the meltdown when the results turn out like the last Presidential election. Priceless.:lol2:

    Gun? What gun?

Any agency that needs this information MSP included already have this information. Why have phony phone calls from someone/ group you don't know and why would you give any answer when you have no proof of who's on the other side of the phone call.
That would be the same as someone wanting your social security number so they can verify who they called.

    Result...a big NO...

    Gun survey

Not a chance in hell. Seems to me, with all of the state and federal paperwork we fill out in order to purchase a firearm, too many people know if I have a gun or not. Of course, it could be a sting to identify people who possess guns illegally.

I voted NO shorty after the poll was posted. Unless I missed one, all of the comments are from no voters, which is not surprising on a gun forum.

What is surprising are the 17 yes votes.
    I'm curious - why?

I cannot tell a lie so I did not vote...

If they ask "gun" I would say many, 3 caulk guns, 4 screw guns and a few glue guns. If the ask "Firearm" the answer is NO

I wouldn't be surprised in households where they've inherited guns, that they're unsure of current laws and wonder if they legally possess them (when, in fact, many probably do). No way do that these types of folks say yes.

Society views guns as potential contraband. Even if marijuana is nationally legalized, I doubt all users will be willing to report if they have pot in the home with some person calling over the phone.

    Oh, phone surveys are fun.
I usually tell them that right now is not a good time since I am expecting an important phone call from my wife/children/physician/lawyer/shrink and if they could call me back some other reasonable time (anything from 2h up to tomorrow, office hours) on my other number.

    I currently use 202-370-8137 as a callback number (:innocent0).

Once they start calling the next day and complaining about a wrong callback number, I just answer in German or French.

It would be funny if a call like that came in while I was out on the range out back.

Pollster: Do you own any guns?

Me: [holds phone mic up to firearm pointed down range] BANG! BANG! BANG! BANG! BANG! BANG! BANG! BANG! BANG! BANG! BANG! BANG! BANG! BANG! BANG! BANG! BANG! BANG! BANG! BANG! BANG! BANG! BANG! BANG! BANG! BANG! BANG! BANG! BANG! BANG! No.

Of course, I would not admit to this. First, it is no one's business. Second, what is the purpose of the survey? Third, what would happen if that data fell into the wrong hands. You could easily identify by address who and who does and who does not own a firearm. When combined with US Census data, I could build a map of houses that may be safe to burglarize. If the survey asked additional questions such as do your work during the day, who is your alarm company, etc. You get the point. Tell them nothing. Also, never, never, never, use real information that can uniquely define you on any social media site.

    Hang up

What gone? I have a phone with call screening that asks caller to press a random number then state there name, has caller of hold and says the name of caller, I hear their name and have a choice to answer or not, or send to answering machine, if the caller doesn't state name they can't even leave a message. I get like 50 calls a day all get blocked, important people like drs and none automated people who can push buttons and state names can get threw. Except the other day I picked up phone to make call, didn't notice it was sceening a call. pressed some buttons no dial tone, I said "hello?" They were like "hey rob black each year 100 troopers die in the line of duty leaving there spouses and kids without money...." I'm not sure how much longer he was going to talk for but (Click).. Plus you know how many troopers get the finger each while they drive? Add one to the trooper I flipped off at a red light in olney last night.:lol2: no real problems with police but u know how many real crimes happen every day we need help with they ignore them and bust peoples who didn't do anything but a misameaner and don't do anything about Federal felony that hurt others?? Sometimes it feels good to give a finger for that.
