I know this stuff gets asked all the time! But man our CCW interviews were 2 months ago to the date. I know we had the holidays in there as well. Also our interviewer wanted 2 more papers that we got into his asap. But he had "miss placed them" for a lack a better way of explaining it. The last time i spoke with him was the 14th of December and he said he had everything he needed to send off to Licensing. So lets say that takes a few days...I am still looking at more than 5 weeks. Is that the norm. Am i just rushing it? Sucks you can't follow up on it or check on the progress like you could with your HQL. So i guess just more waiting. Rant over lol

How far are you into the process? Should be done 90 days after the date they receive your application.

I had my permit about 4 weeks after my interview, and the investigator accidentally held my paperwork for a week. The investigator called my reference(s) within a few days of my interview, and also called my wife within a couple of days. Once that was done and the paperwork sent to the licensing division, it was about 2 weeks. My application was very straightforward, though.

So, if your investigator had everything needed on Dec 14, I would think you should see your permit in the mail this week at the latest (given we had a holiday week in there).

That said, n=1. I've heard from others the process is typically similar to my experience, but I don't think there's a set procedure with a timeline. Some investigators do things in different orders. I've heard that MSP will take the full 90 days regardless of when they have everything they need. Mine took just about that long - my investigator didn't call me until about 60-70 days in to the process.

    Good luck!

every single thing was done by the 14th of December. All paperwork in, all people called, all checks done! Original app was turned in on Sept 10th and checks cashed Oct 3rd.

MSP doesn't want you to have a permit, and they will drag the process out well beyond any mandated limit, just to remind you where you live, and who is in charge.

Well I take it with a grain of salt. I figured that it's taken so long it's probably a good sign. I figure if I was denied actually I should say we were denied it'd be much faster to type up denial letters and mail them out in a heartbeat then it would be to do the whole approval process and mail out the cards which obviously is taking much much longer so I guess a longer waiting. Here could be a good sign. Or it's just wishful thinking I don't know

That has not been my experience with some friends. They drop the denial letter at or a bit after 90 days as well. DC was doing the same when they were may issue.

MSP = Drag their feet and slow walk everything , agendas are in place .

IMHO this is the main reason for delays...

I knew an Assistant States Attorney in the Child Support Office of the Baltimore City SAO who got a permit from MSP in 4 DAYS. Also AT THAT Time She also was able to buy a hand gun from someone privately. She went from zero to packing a revolver in 4 days....

Nothing to see here move along :innocent0

Seriously! My restrictions are fine... No reason to fight them. MSP actually listen to me and understood my business and the restrictions fit well.

If this is your first permit , unless they changed it is only good for 2 years and after the first one 3 yrs. .

Stoveman is right . Also who in their right mind would say restrict me .

Yes I understand who the hell wants restrictions! No one. From you guys point of view, your going "this guy's is nuts". But from my point of view, this was a long up hill battle, with a bunch of money spent, a WHOLE LOT OF PAPERWORK turned in, a lot of very personal and private information shared with MSP times 2. Both my wife and I applied.
Also we both went through some additional handgun training weekends (5 in all) with instructor's to sharpen our skills for both our home and business. We also trained with the kids as well. Are kids are all high school college age but still its a good thing.
So all that just to know in the end you could still be denied and or get a permit with restrictions! Then you start the battle of fighting to remove them!
So when i read my restrictions and read them with our lawyer, we decided not to fight them. Are there holes and times we can not carry sure...... Maybe.

    My restrictions.
Valid between home and work and while engaged in any on-site or off-site business activity at any hour for "said business". MD only.
