Mine are in a safe with little to no humidity. Pulled out my 1847 Walker after it has slept for 2 years and the cylinder was immobile. No rust or corrosion once I disassembled it, but the bore butter had dried to a very hard, waxy substance. All cleaned off now and I G96'ed the hell out of it. Functionality is smooth as buddah once again.
I don't like using petroleum cleaners/solvents/lubricants on them... but I think I'm going to change my way of caring for them in long term storage. or at least take 'em out and let them bark more often...
