Despite “muh infringement,” it’s still worthwhile to understand the law even if you don’t plan to comply.

You do realize that machine guns are banned and parts are readily available right?

You do realize that during the 94-04 AWB era, AR parts were available as well right? Even stuff for banned rifles was available. Pre ban guns were sold at gun shops at a premium just as machine guns are today.

They don't disappear they just increase in price rapidly.

Nope, they sent me private messages of support. So I will honor their wish to stay private.

They simply choose not to participate in the forum conversations. Just like I'm about to do at this rate.

When you come here and pick a fight with one if the most respected members on this fourum, all the while seeming eager to give up another inch, expect us to be less than friendly.

Does this thing have any Republican support? They are still the majority in the house last I read. Why it puzzles me the President getting so animated pushing anything, sad. Really don't care how many 100's of thousands of teens march in a few weeks. Republicans need to listen to their constituents, not the leftist's kids.

it was a suggestion, not an accusation...and no, I don't need to understand a law if 1) it's illegal and 2) I have no intention of complying with it..

Good luck with that. Even the mob is aware of the murder and racketeering laws even though they don’t comply with them...

According to this law, pre-ban guns could not be sold at all. So this is different than 94-04.

It won't pass constitutional muster. If the bill has any legs they will have to allow grandfathering which would also permit transfer. Just like pre 86 machine guns can be transferred.

The bill in its current form will not go unchanged.

The original 94 ban didn't have a sunset clause.

Given the Patriot Act and FISA, I have no faith in GOP commitment to the Constitution. Courts aren’t stopping warrantless surveillance are they?

I would rather have a useless item banned than all semi-auto firearms. Seems you would rather lose everything.

    William Travis weeps.

    Commandancy of the The Alamo

    Bejar, Feby. 24th. 1836

To the People of Texas & All Americans in the World-

    Fellow Citizens & compatriots-

I am besieged, by a thousand or more of the Mexicans under Santa Anna - I have sustained a continual Bombardment & cannonade for 24 hours & have not lost a man - The enemy has demanded a surrender at discretion, otherwise, the garrison are to be put to the sword, if the fort is taken - I have answered the demand with a cannon shot, & our flag still waves proudly from the walls - I shall never surrender or retreat. Then, I call on you in the name of Liberty, of patriotism & everything dear to the American character, to come to our aid, with all dispatch - The enemy is receiving reinforcements daily & will no doubt increase to three or four thousand in four or five days. If this call is neglected, I am determined to sustain myself as long as possible & die like a soldier who never forgets what is due to his own honor & that of his country - Victory or Death.

    William Barret Travis.

    Lt. Col.comdt.

    P. S. The Lord is on our side - When the enemy appeared in sight we had not three bushels of corn - We have since found in deserted houses 80 or 90 bushels and got into the walls 20 or 30 head of Beeves.

    Travis

That's exactly what we should be doing.

Instead we come here, whine and moan about it, all the while pointing out loopholes or other things for the grabbers to grab.

I am one hundred percent in the camp of not giving another inch. We are not at fault for the actions of mad men, yet some how time and time again we take the burden and the blame, while the actual people who fail at their jobs and enable the mad men get off the hook. Im done negotiating, im done with the give and take that only results in us giving. We fight this and any other infringement head on.

After Vegas and Florida I cant believe how many people here are willing to give another inch, knowing that once its gone we wont ever get it back.

clingy your OP is very much of a defeatist mindset. This is not the law but a proposed bill that will never become law if we do our part. Until it becomes law I am not wasting any thought or effort in "complying with the law".

Unfortunately, if we just stand up and say "No more, no no" we will lose. We need to concede on some points (and get some helpful things in return) or we will lose everything.
