I think this Grade B batch has been far more interesting than any of the full crates I saw last year. And to be honest, the stock damage was worse on a few I picked out of fresh crates last year, than any of the hand selects I've seen this time around. Classic really hit a home run with this batch for the price.

I agree that this batch was a home run. I wish, though, that they would have split out the round receivers from the hexes, and charged a bit more for hexes (in other words, segment the shooter market from the collector market). I'd love to roll the dice on a few more, but I don't want another freaking round receiver izzy.

Royal Tiger was selling hexes for $110 and Tula hexes for $120 (even though I think amoung hex rifles, 50% are Tula and 50% are izzy). I wish Classic would have followed that model or something similar.

I like this idea, but then again that takes away the joy of being surprised with a Hex rifle for $99. It does suck though when you hope for something really cool and end up with 42 and 43 Izhevsks. Can't really complain at $89-$99 either way though.

Actually in the hex receiver years, Tula had significantly higher production numbers than Izhevsk.

True, a lot of people made out like bandits by getting cool hexes and ex-snipers and such for $99. Personally, I am more than happy to give up the joy of being surprised by a hex on the cheap for the comfort that I won't get a round receiver izzy. :D I already have enough Mosins where future additions to my collection need to be better than average.

I paid for hand select and they couldn't even send me two that were stamed matching. Might keep the 1937 izzy but the 1942 izzy is going back. Disappointed with them.

Both signs of the bottom of the barrel. I'm surprised they didn't sell out at $99.

Well, these are a different source. The Mosins we're used to seeing came from Ukraine or other former USSR states which are not CIP countries (they did not have CIP proof marks). However, these are directly from Russia, unpacked and cleaned by Molot and proofed in a CIP proofhouse.

Why send it back? Sell it for $20 profit and order a replacement. You'll loose money on return shipping.

Oh I don't mean worldwide, I just meant the bottom of this particular batch Classic obtained this go-around. But I appreciate your comments, as they are important in the overall scope of things.

I think it was stated earlier in the thread that Classic got 10,000 in this batch, the first 5,000 sold out on black Friday, and i'm guessing they're nearing the end of the second 5,000, since the price went up and the quality of the hand selects may be degrading.

Hopefully Molot has more and Classic will obtain another large batch of the same rifles. It would be sad if the return of the $99 Mosin was over already, especially when the batch was so diverse, and the rifles were nicely cleaned.
