I know, I know. But you go through all the infringing NFA hoops and THEN you have to go to another state to transfer the magazine(s)? Really?

Have you bought a handgun in MD lately? Almost the same level of infringement in getting your HQL.

Anyone seriously into guns to the level of MGs is going to be going out of state to gun shows anyway. Or you get them mailed to relatives or friends out of state and pick them up when you go see them.

Its kind of like saying there is no point in getting a gun like a Glock because you have just as many rounds in a 1911 because you can't get the 15-17 round 9mm mags for the glock...

If thats your hold up, its just excuse making.

Why yes I have. And then went to NRA to meet my friend to get the mags that were sent to his house in VA.

It just seems that with an NFA item and its magazines there should be an exemption to the asinine MD laws.

Or that it semi autos are banned, full autos are banned. Let's be happy they don't know what they are doing.

Lol I've been all over the Lage website. That Max-31 mk2 upper is what dreams are made of. Wouldn't mind a .22 upper either.

What's the deal with the tungsten bolt?

I bought one. Basically it replaces the standard bolt with a Tungsten bolt. Its much heavier and slows the Rate of fire down exactly like the Lage uppers. The Lage upper helps fix other issues but if you like the standard M11 package, the Tungsten bolt is the way to go. I am putting together a standard upper now and plan to run that most often. The Lage uppers are awesome but I might actually like this more... time will tell.

Of course, you are real smart, you will join us at the MDTCA shoots and see both for yourself. Then decide.

i think i read on uzitalk about the ability to use the tungsten bolt in one of the lage uppers. I think the 380 version will ship out around the same time Im expecting my m11a1 (hopefully in December).

MAX31s are the way to go. Make sure to stock up on coffin mags. The suomi drums are fun for dumps, but the round drum gets in the way of holding the gun comfortably. Coffins are slimmer, still hold an incredible amount of ammo, and run usually well.
Also considering that B&T's new KH9 pistol can use suomi mags, I expect coffins to slowly dry up.

Except those coffin mags are expensive and a PITA to load. I see Shockwave is coming out with a Suomi version. I would get that.

Now I grant that I have a Maxim with 250rd belts... so doing a 72 round dump is not that awesome to me, I still like the Max11. Best all around feel and frankly after you have it for a while, 30rd stick mags are the way to go. Its enough to enjoy and not to much...

Right there with you. Coffin mag's are essentially priced out of usefulness now that Shockwave is making stick mags (30 and 50 rounds) that'll fit in the MAX-31. The Suomi drums are nice and if you have a Max-31 you should own a few, but stick mags are so much less trouble to load.

I've got a MAX-31 and I have probably too strong of an affection for Mr. Lage. However, if I was doing it over again and outfitting a stock M11 today, I'd start with a standard side-cocking, optics ready upper and add the Tungsten Coffee Freak bolt. I'd then get mostly Shockwave 30 round mags and 1 maybe 2 50 rounders... man do I love living in Va now!

Add a AR-15 buffer tube adapter and man you'll have a sweet little setup. Its stupid easy to pull singles and control the gun with the CF-W bolt... The UZI had better watch it's back.

I need a different suppressor on mine. I've got a Form 1 9mm can already approved and I think I'm going to do a "modern Sionics" style with a suppressor within a suppressor. I'll build it so that the In Lead We Trust AR15 free float handgaurd adapter will let a large handgaurd just fit over the can..... always something to upgrade :-)

Yeah with 50rd Z mags, I see a whole lot less point to the Max31.

I agree, I am a little to loyal to Mr. Lage. He did the cheap MG market a great service! He had first class customer service and is a great guy. I also agree that I would use the Tungsten bolt. I decided to go with a top cocking upper as my kids are left handed. I bought one of those three lug M11 barrels off UZItalk.com. 3 lug is the way to go for 9mm SMG if you ask me. I will plan to put a Mk9k on it. I think I will go with your Holosun optics for it and the new Lage M11K stock. Add a front vertical grip and you are good to go. I might also look to add a bit of an ejection port to help cut down on gas back in the face.

Oh in VA now... thats why you fell off the face of the earth! :)

I agree, with these upgrades, the M11 could wind up beating out the Uzi in time as far as price goes. The modern M11 is sure not the Bullet hose it once was...

Have fun in VA but watch out for those Nazi Speed Police. Frankly I think VA is only 20 years behind MD on becoming a liberal state, thanks to Northern VA. I bet VA is regretting taking back their share of DC now!!! Hell I wish MD would donate two more counties to DC.

Yes, Ill take 20 years though! Everything is not all rosy in VA. I haven't found any good machine gun groups like MDTCA down here, it's really surprising how good we have it at AGC.

I hope to get back up to AGC eventually, perhaps we can shoot our little "ex-bullet hoses" together again some time!

Hmm. You guys sure seem to like this tungsten bolt. My only concern, and correct me if I'm being silly, is that it will wear out the factory original upper. Is that ridiculous? Does it not really matter? I have much to learn.

Yeah its pretty nice. Well I guess it might wear it out a minor amount quicker if not oiled well. Lets assume there is more wear. Uppers are usually less than $100 on a $7K gun. So in the grand picture... no its not really a concern. Shooting bimetal bullets would concern me more money wise.

Damn. That also says that the seller will pay transfer fees.

If I had a spare $6500 I'd be on the phone right now.

Are the Powder Springs guns desirable?
