The HQL's are numbered sequentially starting over each year so to determine the number issued in a year we just need the approximate number of a HQL issued in late December of each year. We can also track trends by looking at the HQL number and date issued to see if the average number per day changes.

2013 The HQL was only in effect for 3 months = 4,500 issued = 50 per day

2014 the number posted was issued in Dec. no date given = 15,150 = 41 per day

2015 the number posted was for end of Dec. after 12/29 = 18,070 = 49.5 per day

    Total for first three years (1st year only 3 months) = 37,720 = 46 per day since Oct.1, 2013

2016 the number posted was for an HQL activated on Dec. 30 = 27,900 = 77 per day

Running total of all HQL's issued since October 1, 2013, start of program, to latest date posted (12/30/2016) = 65,620 = 55 per day since Oct. 1, 2013

Want to see a liberals head explode? Just tell them that in Maryland more than 77 legal Handguns are sold every day of the year. Then you know where to find them, cowering in their safe place.

The numbers are showing a nice upward trend.

Based on my number, HQL-2017-0013XX, active today 1/16/2017 the average is over 81 per day.
I assume you were counting total days, not business days.

See post #78 for some partial year figures for 2016. For the first three months we were over 100 a day. With the new administration I expect the average to drop a little, last year everyone thought Hildabeast would get elected and try to ban guns.

I'm pretty sure liberals are responsible for the uptick in sales.

    Mine went active today. HQL-2017-0040XX

EDIT: That's an average of 90 HQL licenses per day, counting weekends.

Interesting. Someone else on the How Long thread posted theirs went active the same day as yours 2/14 and their number was 41XX. So on days they work they are doing more than 100 a day to keep the average over 90 a day for calendar days.

Thank you for your report every little piece of information adds to the picture.

    Thanks for tracking this.

    65,620 * $50 fee = $3.28 M revenue
I vaguely remember some testimony that the HQL costs the State $20 so
    65,620 * $30 profit = $1.97 M profit

    Where is that money going?

In some form or fashion, and out of one state controlled pot or another? You can bet that money is going to pay state lawyers, using state extorted money in licensing a right, to fund with our money their efforts to defeat our privately funded and hopefully successful HQL lawsuit.

That's where. Their story I'm sure will differ.

Pens. Pencils. Paper. Legal Fees. Staff.

Riding rough shod over gun owners and infringing on our rights isn't cheap.

    HQL-2017-0065XX

95.6 HQL's per calendar day. Looks like handguns are selling well.

Question for the industry partners who sell hand guns. I believe in most cases a new HQL means a handgun sale because no one is going to jump through all the hoops just to carry the card. What is the ratio of HQL first time since the law buyers to repeat buyers. In other words how may people are buying their second or third handgun since getting their HQL.

While not HQL-related, I just received a response from MSP about W&C numbers. I'm sure I could get them to give me HQL numbers, too.

That is good information every little piece add to the picture.

Lets see since the HQL program began through the end of last year there were 65,000 new handgun owners yet the total of all W&C permits is only 18,000. I wonder just how many of the 65,000 would like to get a permit if it was possible in Maryland. It seems to me an awful lot of voters are being denied their god given rights.

Mine went active 3/6 and is in the 0061xx range. That means that they're doing more than 100 per business day.

Thank you for posting. We next need one as close to March 31 as possible because that will give us the number for the First quarter if the year.

YMMV, but truth will out. Now about that FOIA? 2018 is coming.

Since my HQL went active on March 9th, i have become a gun collector and have bought two handguns in a one week period. A Sig p320 and a Glock 19 MOS...with many more to come.

Looking for an HQL holder whose HQL was approved or went to active status as close to March 31st 2017 as possible. Please post the date approved and the HQL number just XX the last two digits. This will give us the number of HQL's approved in the first quarter of 2017 because the HQL's are numbered sequentially starting from the first of the year.

Keeping track of the numbered issued increases our knowledge of the inner workings of the "system".

I got my HQL in 2015. I'm in the process of buying my 4th handgun with it. Tat brings the cost per gun down to $12.50. That's my plan, to buy enough handguns that the $50 will be spread out. That's a good plan, isn't it?
