Yeah, it would be even better just filling out the Federal form like a lot of other states.

At least in the foreseeable future since I doubt the state will give up with handgun transfers, it would be nice to legislate away the 7 day wait. I was pretty happy about the shell casing on new guns

Cheaper in the fact that I won't have to maintain paperwork (I won't have to buy more filing cabinets), have a FAX line, maintain a multi-function printer, train my employees on how to deal with all the paperwork, you will spend less time at the gun store (my personal time is worth about $200/hour), less work for MSP meaning more time can be spent on processing HQLs and handgun permits faster.

Our transfer fees, for example, will go down $5.00 once the new system is up and running.

Seems like a major advantage will be faster throughput of sales transactions. Probably not a big deal on a slow weekday, but if you have a store full of customers, the faster you can greet and help them the more of them will be likely to buy what they came in for.

I've never been to your store, but I've walked out of some others when they were so busy that I didn't even get a wave or a nod to acknowledge my presence. Not looking to get my ring (or ass) kissed, just an acknowledgement that I'm there and they'll get to me eventually.

This saves the store time and money because when we're busy, the faster we can get through the paperwork, the faster we can move to the next sale. Not that sales are our primary goal when you walk into my store, but it does help to keep the lights on... LOL

... I've walked out of some others when they were so busy that I didn't even get a wave or a nod to acknowledge my presence.

That won't happen at my store! That's grounds for termination here. We're pretty good at multitasking, too. Just earlier today I have one guy doing paperwork on a few lowers, another guy doing paperwork on a long gun transfer, answered questions for a third guy, and helped a 4th guy look at some long guns he was interested in. All of them out the door and happy in less than 30 minutes.

'Dunno where that was posted but considering most dealers I know of only have desktop computers and will need to either purchase electronic devices or forego handgun sales in MD I can only see prices going up in the interim for firearms as dealers pass the "cost of doing business" onto their customers. Of course the average consumer will bitch endlessly about the price raises.

The only thing that stores without laptops will need for customers to do forms in the store is an Android tablet. When you consider that you can get those for under $100, as long as the store has Wi-Fi, it's not that big a deal. Even a phone with a decent sized screen will work.

It wasn't huge, but there was a decent selection. Turnout on Sunday was not heavy when I was there.

Probably, if you were a haggler and went late in the day, some deals could be had.

Not from Oh Shoot. They wouldn't come off any of their prices. $579 and not a penny less for a Glock 43. High priced and no wiggle room.

    YMMV

I'm just thankful there's a show in Dundalk. I practically live around the corner from where it was held.

There was ammo at reasonable prices and I treated myself to .223 and some of TomKat's subsonic 9mm.

Oh shoot has a LARGE display of high quality brand new firearms. Lots of tables (IIRC the largest single display at the show) which means high table fees. (PM if you want a per table cost) which means a larger nut to crack to turn a profit. He prices at MSRP. He's also in the process of building a shop which also needs $$$$

I guess he can either build it with the profit of less sales at a wider margin or profit from more sales at less of a margin.

It's his business and he can certainly do as he pleases, but I wasn't the only one walking away without buying from them. I watched 2 guys laugh at the guy, then walked away after being told how much they wanted for a handgun.

    Just one man's opinion!

Picking on gun shows where there haven't been gun shows previously, or for several years is akin to criticising the poker playing skills of dogs.

That is awesome! Do you take transfers from all online retailers?

Just about all of them. A few, including Palmetto, are a pain in the keister, but we'll still transfer for them.

We also don't charge transfer fees, credit card fees or background check fees when you buy the gun from us.

Thank you all for attending. This goes out to the vendors, and attendees to the show.
Granted the show isn't a MEGA-show but I did try my best to have as much gun and knife related items available for everyone to enjoy.
If you enjoyed the show that's great, if you didn't like it it... well maybe next time you'll see something you'll like.
    Thanks again for everything

Even though it isn't the biggest show around, we still enjoyed it. We made some new friends and introduced our way of doing business to some new people. Overall, it was a success for us.

Let me know when the next one is, and we'll be there!

    Thanks,
    Chuck
