What do think the chance are Trumps apt to head the BATF will roll back 41f?

I'll get this one out of the way now, my guess will know 2 weeks after he takes office, about 3% chance. :)

Seriously, though I know its not a priority but he can do it.

As a C&R buyer of MGs... I don't know I want it rolled back. Not having to do MSP approval on the C&R MGs might be worth the trade off for Fingerprints on the trust for me...

To be frank... out of all the laws lately, not that I approve any... its the one I probably have the least problem with.

I would much rather see the 86 Ban go, the Bush II Barrel ban, the Bush I AWB for imports, the Ammo ban on "AP" imports and the ITAR killing of Surplus ammo go!

I mean it would be nice if they would just go to a one time submission of finger prints... after all they don't change! That would take the sting out of it for me, not that I approve of it, but at least its not a hassle every time.

Don't get me wrong, its all BS and unConstitutional but there are the ones that bug me much more...

Definitely a possibility, but unlikely anytime soon. I'm remaining hopeful for the repeal of the hughes amendment...

Same here. That's the one I'd most like to see go. Then I could actually afford a mg. I'm sure all those who already own them would hate it as it would decimate the value of their investment.

A lot of people would like to see the 86 Hughes amendment repealed, but that takes an act of Congress. 41f is an executive order away.

I don't have a problem with doing the finger prints myself. its getting the 4 others on my trust to go out and get them done in a timely manor.

The AG can issue an unlimited number of 90 day machine gun amnesty registration periods under the Gun Control Act of 1968. Its one stroke of a pen away too.

The 86 Hughes amendment would collapse if several million new NFA machine guns were registered into "Common Use". It would have no reason to exist anymore, and it would no longer be able to stand under Heller. It would be effectively dead. Its repeal would be a forgone conclusion.

    It is indeed false hope.

In order to change 41F, the ATF would have to do another regulatory change, with all the process involved in such a change. Yes, Trump could ask them to do this. But it wouldn't be an EO, and it would not be a short process.

The post I was referencing was about the hughes amendment, not 41f

Yeah I get that. Several thoughts...

First you can add and remove people... so do so... Remove, fingerprint, add...

Second, why not make a new Trust for every item? I don't see the down side.

All that said, I have not done a trust yet so maybe I am missing something.

Can they still do away with the BATF all together? Opinion letter outbound lol

NFA was originally a Treasury department job... I guess it would just go back to them. However its still a great idea. Started to deal with Prohibition... why did it not die with the amendment?

I think the entire NFA was simply a way to keep the former alcohol agents employed on the govt. payroll after Prohibition died. Yes, there was the fear mongering of gangsters with Tommy guns for public feel good points but the underlying economic and political motivation was to not have to lay off a bunch of agents during the Depression.

So my question here would be how would this work with the Maryland registration? We're supposed to register a MG within 24-48, right (unsure of exact period because my first MG is pending a F4)? Would we register with whatever the amnesty process is, then build after confirmation and register with MD? I doubt we can build first then register, as we'd be breaking MD law.

He said he would undo Obamas anti gun executive orders so surplus ammo could make a comeback. That'd be great cuz I only got six tins of 7N6 left LOL

I think legislatively, getting suppressors off the class III list is on the NRAs agenda.

I'm not sure how the wording is written but I believe silencers are illegal. The exemption is for being properly registered Federally. I know this is how it is written for SBR/SBS. If this is the case, there will be no way to own them in Maryland if the Hearing Protection Act is passed.

Is there some additional law in MD that supercedes federal law, yet is allowed under current class III rules? I'm not sure what you're saying.

I looked and couldn't find anything in Md Law addressing silencers. Short barrel rifles and shotguns are specifically addressed. I feared silencers we're also.
