Gerber used to make a few in that style, before they went to crap with junk "tools" and the Bear Grylls collaboration.

You could look for a Case V42 Stiletto, the knife issued to the 1st SSF, the "Devil's Brigrade".

Case made a post-military run of them in the early 90s.

    Fairbairn Sykes -

Not very practical for anything but fighting and then there seems to always be a controversy about fighting knives ( sorta like firearms).. I don't doubt there is good and 'not so good' regarding characteristics and features of tools in the fighting knife world, but skills / training weigh so much more heavily with knives.. so few people have any mentionable knife fighting training or experience. The Colt pistol was the great equalizer because someone with relatively little skill could end a fight with it..

Post led me to reading on this again- Heres' a cool site.

I have Fairbairn's Fighting book somewhere on the shelf.. need to dust it off and give it another read.

I have wanted a Gerber MkII since I was a kid in the 80's .. I see them on ebay periodically and get tempted...

IMHO knife fighting takes a lot of time to truly become efficient and effective. I have several decades of fma systems and just like firearm retention and retrieval ideas require considerable training time. Just like firearms they are deminishing return skills if you don't keep up your training. I see a lot of people who carry knives who truly don't train one bit with them. Of course i get to see a lot of people who carry handguns and don't do any real training with them either. Being proficient takes dedication and effort.

I had an original F-S in those days, but never carried it anyway. Also had some original Filipino balisong (butterfly knives, I was stationed there) which I did carry until they put those on the list also.

The Fairbairn Sykes is easy to find on Ebay (both originals and copies) and on Amazon. The original did haves its faults -- particularly the easily broken tip.
