I wasn't a Hogan fan when he was running, and I supported the Libertarian candidate over him. While I don't agree with him on many issues, I like and respect his honesty and forthright approach. He's been a pretty OK Governor.

If he votes, I would bet he supports Gary Johnson, who is the only pro 2A candidate on the ballot in Maryland (unless Darrell Castle gets on the ballot in MD). Why would you have a problem with that? It's not like there's any chance Trump would win Maryland, and it's no surprise many Republicans aren't happy with Trump as the nominee.

It's not about just MD, it's a national sphere of influence and giving ammo/talking points to the democrats in other parts of the country where it does matter. "Even governors in his own party are not voting for him, even the republicans do not think he is presidential"

    Various hypothet scenarios :

Hogan endorses Trump. Trump wins. Md's leftist triangle voters loath Trump, attack Hogan for being supporter, looses '18 reelection. Hogan might have brownie points for administration gig, or clout in nat'l GOP.

Endorse Trump, Trump looses. Leftist triangle voters still hate Hogan for supporting Trump, still loose reelection. But no golden parachute with Trump administration.

Not endorse Trump, Trump wins. Hogan might get reelected, no future on nat'l stage.

Not endorse Trump, Trump looses. Hogan has least fallout with Md voters other than "us" . Might get reelected. He hopes that by 2020 election cycles there will be a different cast of characters in play vieing for nomination, and his non-endorsement in '16 be able to be finessed, and he can form positive relations with the new players.

    Or...
Has no interest in any national position...
    Not endorse Trump...
    Vote for him anyway...
Maintain favor with Maryland left and establishment RNC...
    Get reelected for another term...

Who knows at this point?.. Speculation is king and no one but he knows what his strategy is or will be. He's riding a wave of popularity which no R Governor has had here.

He can't have a 70% popularity rating without being very appealing to a lot of Democrats. Perhaps they know something we don't know or something we all refuse to see.

Correct... And since I am not privy to his thoughts in the matter... I won't assume nor presume to know what his strategy is at this point. At any rate, his vote is his vote. I would like to see his support for the R candidate... But... I also don't wish to see a D in the statehouse in the next election.

Exactly!!!! The fact that Gov Hogan even was elected in MD is amazing. If the 2a community turns on him you can be assured in 10 years this state will be more restrictive the California. And let's be completely honest with ourselves, Trump comes with a lot of baggage and does not think before he begins talking. If he would just stop talking he might have a chance. Sometimes I think he's actually Hilary's running mate.

While I agree with OP's anger, the reality is that this is Maryland and thanks to the electoral college our presidential votes do not count anyway. If this "feel good" gesture helps keep Hogan popular among a few libtard voters I am OK with it. Remember what happened to Erhlich, which ultimately led to butthole O'Malley and SB281.
