lol - That is why western HoCo schools make the top 10 list along with the MoCo schools in Bethesda, Chevy Chase, and Potomac. I'll have to check that list to see where Carroll County has schools listed

Most schools around southern CC (Sykesville, Eldersburg) are 9 or 10 on GreatSchools (South Carroll, Century, Liberty, Oklahoma, Eldersburg, etc)

The problem with CC schools vs. HoCoMoCo is teacher's pay (as I understand it).

That's one of the reasons we're looking to stay in our local schools...the boys love it and we have no complaints.

CC has some great schools but I'm not sure how long that will last. CC is hemorraging good teachers because the pay is much lower than surrounding counties.

Carroll has a higher high school grad rate than hoco.

And you don't have to walk around afraid of voicing your opinions or being concerned that you aren't PC enough.

Exactlt. Academics aren't all there is to school. Which is basically all greatschools takes into consideration.

    The area is very popular......
It's worth the hunt for a house in Carroll, we have been very happy in Sykesville.

We're in the same boat here...Living in Eldersburg,....

    I'm near Taylorsville....

Taylorsville Woodbine area will keep you in the sticks, but close enough for shopping.

We moved from Mt.Airy 23 years ago to Woodbine and have never regretted it....

    Consider the Finksburg area?
As for schools they are actually better than hoco. Carroll has the best schools in the state and is also God's country.

Why do I feel another CC MDS get together coming on?

A house just came up for sale in Louisville. It's about halfway between Eldersburg and Gamber. Really nice house on 3+ acres! Close to everything and not too far out. Close to Liberty Lake too. Used to belong to a friend, the late Sam Poole, he really put a lot of work into building such a nice home and it shows! ReMax realty, realtor is Vincent Damico phone : 410-540-3500.

The home is located at 2060 Bollinger Mill Rd. Finksburg.

It will not last very long at the price they are asking.

My brother graduated high school with a 1.0 gpa. Not college ready, he was.

The USNews link I provided showed that way more graduates from HoCo are college ready versus Carroll.

I will say that education is not the end all be all for success in life, but it sure does help. One of my brothers does not have any college education. The other went to college for 4 years but did not get a degree. Both make 6 figures. I know plenty of "uneducated" immigrants that are worth several million. However, statistics show that on average a college grad earns a higher income than a high school grad.

As my dad always says, "Nobody can take your education away from you."

Of course, that is unless you are a liberal. Then, you have to worry.

There are parts of Carroll where they do not look too kindly on "transplants". Maybe that has changed over time, but I was told at CCGC that I am not welcome in Carroll County because I was raised in Montgomery. lol

Oh yeah, Howard County is one of the richest counties in the nation. Might be why it can afford to pay teachers more than Carroll can. Median home price in my zip code is $900k. My wife and I live in a tool shed compared to everybody else.

Here is a nice place in Woodbine. Can almost be considered Lisbon. Just on the south side of the railroad tracks. We drove by it a bunch of times when we were looking at houses in Chessie Crossing. Always wondered what it was like inside and what it was worth. Have to win the lottery.

Another one just south of the tracks off of Route 97. A little more reasonable with a 5 car garage, but I still cannot wrap my head around spending this much for a house.

The main reason most Carroll County people do not like those who move here from liberal areas of the state is that they say they moved here to escape the BS policies where they came from. Next thing you know, they are trying to have those same policies implemented here!!! :sad20:
