Think this would qualify as G&S?

That's where I was going with this. I can't wait for Liberals to scream for open carry.

What's appropriate for hogs? I'll guess anything less than 44mag isn't going to help...will that even be enough? They travel in packs? Might need an AK with a happy switch.

Shooting open season varmints sounds fun...fighting for survival not so much

Lots of Texas and Florida outfitters offer these hunts. I always wanted to do one. Congrats to your son.
    Will do. Thanks.

Ours was Blue Ghost Outfitter in south GA.

The shit eating grin on his face (after the kill) was worth a million bucks. That and knowing he was deploying (to AFG) a few weeks later with fresh family memories made the trip most excellent.

Totally agree. Careful what you wish for.

I talked to a game warden in a cafe west of Fort Worth to see if I could get any leads on land owners with hog problems. I had a half dozen hunting buddies just dying to get into some.

He told me everyone had hog problems but I had a snowballs chance in hell getting permission to hunt their land.

He said once people realized they could charge people to hunt them, everyone with a 10ac parcel was putting up a high fence and charging people to hunt.

Problem was, they couldn't kill them faster then they could breed. Couple few years later, they are literally overrun.

My face wasn't the only bloody part of me. Funny enough, the blood from the neck up is mine. That hog drug me and 2 dogs about 15 yards through some thorns.

Blood from the neck down is the pigs blood. :D

    Double that for pigs.

Have seen where a sounder decimated a 500ac vegetable field over a few weeks.... Neighbor, several friends and I had fun the last evening... and freezers full of pork.

You don't understand the damage the pigs do. They don't just eat the stuff above ground, they root and pull up the roots, your nice and neat rows will become a maze.

I personally miss all the opportunities I had for pigs, damned fun to hunt and good to eat... and sometimes generated funds for the house... But I do not feel that people are ready for the invasion... they may think they are..... hell with the complaints from people about deer eating thier rhodadendron, image when the whole yard is rooted up and those cherry trees toppled over....

in the 70's and 80's we raised 1000 pigs a year for eskay. we used the pigs , fenced in, to clear land. work as good as a dozer.

He is not. He prefers to grumble about it. It's a farmer thing, you wouldn't understand.

yeah, when I look thru my barn roof thru the bullet holes in it and think about all the trash I have picked up and the arguments with the neighboring landowners about ******* trespassing after I showed them the lines and the shots fired before sun up and after sundown and dickheads coming around when I am not around and f*cking with my stuff I do get that farmer thinking going on.

I am extra picky who comes around, much less being allowed to shoot or hunt.

I would rather shoot and let 100 deer rot in the sun than have 1 accident on the farm.

edit, sorry if I sound harsh, I feel just like shit today. my back and legs are killing me.
working in the cold on junky ass big farm equipment will put you in a bad mood. too much work with too little help.

This would not belong in the ''unpopular opinion" thread.

You need to get up to date on their claims. They may say we don't have hogs, but they've confirmed that every county has an established coyote population. They've even backed off saying there are no bobcats in western MD, although they've hesitated to say there is an established population. In their defense, there have been plenty of trailcam pics of bobcats, but I haven't seen any of hogs yet.

I saw a group of about 4-6 wild hogs at work. Oh yea, I live and work in Frederick County.

Love the insane little laugh at the end. Wonder if the dude was actually hunting barefoot or lost a boot.

Glad you added the info on sources of blood - pretty intense. Btw, look a bit like Dexter in that pic. ;)
