I am wondering what the 229-1 is on the mag means? Found it, FLUSH FIT.

The P229-1 is the designation for the newest model of P229.

There are a bunch of changes, but they're centered around the change from one frame for the 9mm and one for .40/.357 to all of them using the .40/.357 frame. The P229-1 9mm magazines hold 15 rounds and have a spot about 3/4 the way up the magazine where the mag body narrows. The -1 magazines will NOT fit the older 9mm frames, but the old magazines will work in a -1 frame - they'll just be a little loose.

There are also changes to the design of the barrel and slide block and the slide itself.

I have both, the 45 is a littler 'chunkier' and heavier fully loaded, but feel about the same in my hand. Of course the recoil is totally different.

I would think it would be more desirable and collectible knowing that it will be discontinued for certain. I wonder if they get tougher and tougher to find?

I just sold mine two weeks ago. Rarely shot it. It was collecting dust.
