No. In the committee voting session they can strike out the entire bill, and add all new text, vote it out of committee and send it to the floor without a new hearing.

There is also an amendment process on the floor.

But, the reason we pass ideas around here is to make sure we all understand the pros and cons of all the language, and pressure the Committees to realize we are watching and will hold them accountable to the best of our capabilities.

    Writing, calling, testifying, 'protesting', voting...

Step up. Show up. Speak up.

It's how the process is SUPPOSED to work... not just giving our 'keepers' a blank check to run (ruin?) our lives.

So many of the specific flaws in this bill are not being covered in the press because...(shocked face)...they weren't there.

Early in the hearing for HB1000, we watched the press pack up and leave because it was dinner time.

    Thanks Democraps.

MD Senate President Mike Miller, responding to Gov. Hogan's push to live stream the legislature:

Whoa, he seems really edgy and irritated. Might be the view out his window changed recently, thanks to BeoBill and Natboh...

True Representative Government in action! Much like the Politburo.

Keep in mind, Mike: Mussolini got the job done too. Look where it got him!

I really enjoy this state. But those in its government suck a bag of...

Last summer, my daughter worked for ALEC. the American Legislative Exchange Council. ALEC coordinates with conservative, free market legislators to craft legislation.

I know there are groups on the left doing the same thing. Friday, all I could think was that Clippinger got the template but couldn't attach it to the proper part of MD Code. I'm not sure his reading comprehension is that high.

But the lesson I've learned from the anti-gun side is that they will be back.

So will we. But the real goal is to get such fools out of office!

Maybe committee chairs need to ask legislators a variation on the old security questions airline counter agents used to ask:

    1. Did you pack all your draft bills yourself?
    2. Did anyone else ask you to carry a bill through the General Assembly for them?
    3. Have your bills ever been out of your sight since you drafted them?

Pat Warren, from WJZ, was there doing interviews. I refused, as I suspected their story would be rabidly anti-gun and they were just looking to take quotes out of context to use in advancing their cause.

Who's talking purchase? Delegates or testimony??

If the former, I agree on intent. If the latter, it shows the [lack of] depth of the firearms community.
I was looking at the "Legislative Lingo" tab located at the bottom of the of the webpage for HB1000:

    http://mgaleg.maryland.gov/pubs-current/current-legislative-lingo.pdf

and noticed this in the "Types of bills" section:

    Snake
A bill or provision that has a hidden purpose

This should give you an idea of their intent.

    HI legislature works fast

If you had any doubts about what will be added/amended to MD HB1040 look at what the HI legislature has done. :sad20:

    http://www.capitol.hawaii.gov/measure_indiv.aspx?billtype=SB&billnumber=2413&year=2016

Just like the MDGA this bill has been cross filed in both chambers.

    http://www.capitol.hawaii.gov/measure_indiv.aspx?billtype=HB&billnumber=1813&year=2016

Here's the real purpose for HB 1040.

1)Requires surrender or disposal of firearms and ammunition.
    2)Establishes a class C felony for a violation.

DHS Secretly Scrubbed 1,000 Names From U.S. Terror Watch Lists…
    http://freebeacon.com/national-secu...ubbed-1000-names-from-u-s-terror-watch-lists/
The Washington Free Beacon first reported in 2014 that the Obama administration secretly assembled a terrorist “hands off” list that enabled individuals with terrorist ties unfettered entrance into the United States.

The latest documents, obtained by Judicial Watch and released on Tuesday, appear to confirm these initial reports. They further disclose that at least 1,000 names were scrubbed from the U.S. Terrorist Screening Database as part of an administration effort to protect the civil rights of suspected individuals.

“The documents appear to confirm charges that Obama administration changes created a massive ‘hands off’ list,” Judicial Watch said in a statement. “Removed data from the terrorist watch list could have helped prevent the San Bernardino terrorist attack.”

And yet if honest US citizens are ON the list, they stay on the list. :mad54:
