In my time in the U.S. Army I carried the M1911A1 and later transitioned to the M9. Between those two I preferred the M1911A1.
Since leaving the Army I have been issued the Beretta 92FS, Glock 22 and the Smith and Wesson M&P 9. Of those weapons I preferred the Glock 22.
My current job gives me the choice to carry my own weapon or the issued SW M&P9. My Glock 21, Gen3 is what I carry. I am far more accurate with my Glock 21 than I am with any other pistol that I own (HK USP45 & SiG P220). I have recently acquired a Glock 17 Gen4, but have not yet shot a qualification course. Depending on how well I do, the Glock 17 might be the new carry weapon. . Not a fan-boy by any stretch. I carry what I shoot the best.

This is the right approach when your life is on the line. Most actions are over after the first few shots, so they've gotta count!

If I had only one sidearm I could carry it would be a Sig P228. I say this as I have trained with it many times and found that it will give me no trouble till somewhere around 600 rounds fired. I wipe down the rails, ramp and front of the barrel and off to the races again. The most I have fired in one day was 700+ rounds. Given that record of reliability that's the gun for me. It is also my carry gun so it's with me 24/7. My P226 comes close as does my P220. But I like the P228. Chris

Glock 17 gen 4 two tone FDE with a Pearce Grip Plug. Cheap ball ammo.

...don't forget the Pearce grip plug. Without it, the whole package is useless!

Although I stated earlier that I'd pick my FN45, the more I handle my P226 TacOps, the more I am leaning in that direction. 20-round mags equals more lead down range, plus that thing just "shoots".

My first choice is the FN 5.7, but my second choice is my 92 FS. The FN because I can carry 3 times as much ammo (space wise). And the 92 because it's mucho reliable and 9mm should be easy to scavenge
