I just got a ticket out on I-495. I got picked out of a line of traffic right at the I-494 & I-95 split. MY crime? The dealer installed license plate frame covered the lower 3/4 inch of the Maryland Plate with his name. Its that part of the plate that says www.maryland.gov or Treasure the Chesapeake. The ticket was for "obscuring the license plate"

Has anyone ever gotten a ticket for a more chicken%$#^ reason?

Use of Emergency Flash lighting - for warning people about the speed trap by blinking my headlights. (Went to court, and was thrown out by the judge.)

Take a pic, go to court, and you may be surprised how some judges react to their courtrooms being clogged by this BS. I saw one State Trooper politely dressed down by the judge for just such BS recently.

Forgot to mail the sticker renewal once, pure oversight on my part.
    MTA/Key bridge stopped me.
Wrote two tickets l, one for "Driving with expired tags" and one for :Failure to show current registration".
I felt that was a suck-a$$ed way to do it.

Yeah those evil officers enforcing the law.

The law is clear...you can't obstruct any part of the plate.

If there is a problem with the law it should be fixed by the CORRECT branch of government instead of getting pissed at the branch that is tasked with enforcing it.

To get mad at the police for enforcing the law as it is wrote is kind of stupid but atlas that is what we do as society.

Write your representative and have the "B.S. law" re wrote or removed.

With all that said....discretion is important and folks wonder why the average person who will have no more contact with LE isn't thrilled with them all the time.

There are ALWAYS those who TALK their way into a ticket. Not saying the OP is one of these but you never know.

I was at the DMV at Mondawmin once years ago, it was the 2nd or 3rd day of the month. There was a city cop driving slowly up and down the rows. Someone in there said that they did it every month catching people coming in to renew their stickers that had expired the previous month.

I got a ticket for sitting on the highway with my running lights on. Now the back story is I was giving a guy a ride to work and he was meeting me at my house. I live on a court off of route 4. I pulled out of my driveway and parked on the side of the road infront of my house. I had my running lights on not my headlights. Mind you it's 2:00 am. A state trooper going up route 4 looks down my court as he passes. Sees me and turns around, comes in my court, throws the red and blues on and pulls behind me. I tell him my story, show him my house 50 feet away from us and he still gives me a ticket.

Was sitting at a light in Catonsville behind someone with a police officer behind me.

The light turned green and the person in front of me didn't turn left.

I laid on my horn until they finally woke up and turned, but, by that time, the light changed to yellow. And I laid on the horn again because I was pissed and I wasn't going to run a yellow with a cop behind me.

All of a sudden, his lights came on and I thought he was going after them. Cuzz they were drunk or stupid or asleep or a combination thereof.

Nope! He pulled me over and wrote me a ticket for using my horn in a non emergency sitchiation.

This concludes my dumbest ticket story.

Not a nerve at all....people forget there are 3 branches of government and seemingly only dislike one branch for enforcing the law instead of going after the branch who created it.

I don't think I've ever been on 495 nor could I point to it on a map.

Good for you. Even if you think this was appropriate, there are things called warnings. Maybe the OP was a jackass, but I wonder if that only manifested itself after the officer made a jackass of himself first. Assuming it went down the way the OP said I see no reason the officers actions need be defended. They speak for themself.

It is a legit ticket and it's given out often, usually for the states name being obstructed. A woman at my gym just got one so I helped her remove her license plate cover. Sorry she got an ERO not a ticket.

In Maryland it can cost you many hundreds if you get caught with a expired registration.

among many ERO's I have gotten as a teenager I think the most silly was exhaust not extending from under the quarter panel far enough. Its a safety thing I understand but I look at the 3 police cruisers parked behind me, none of their tailpipes we legal.

Wife got a warning from an MSP trooper at 301 and 304 for the same reason - dealer "frame" around the plate.

My speculation is that they were trolling for contraband as 301 is a popular east coast route. As she didn't present with any anxiety or other tells, she merely got the warning for the PC stop and was on her way.

    Skins Brew,

Don't play that card in this thread. I don't hate cops, they have my utmost respect. I generally give them the benefit of the doubt even when they shoot someone in the back several times. Chicken shit like this, not so much . . .:innocent0

Woah myself? Missed the scarasm so may have misplaced the intent?
