I'm setting up my 308 AR to shoot Heavy Metal division this year. For the comp, I picked up a SJC Titan Comp because it received good reviews. the base of the comp is the same diameter as the barrel: .750". However, the crush washer they included is larger and sticks out a little. Other than looks (don't really care about that), should this be OK? It seemed really easy to turn (~18-20 ft/lbs.) I test fired it and it didn't shoot loose (only 30 rounds, though.) I didn't want to use Rockset because I may want to switch it back to an AAC suppressor adapter.

You can see it in this picture:

Rocksett that bitch and be done with it.

If you have to remove it later, set the muzzle in boiling hot water for an hour - it pops right off after soaking in hot water.

    Been there, done that.

Yeah, so have I. My experiences ranged from, "Oh, that wasn't so bad", to "Holy Crap!! Is that welded on??"

I've learned that if you don't go super anal about degreasing everything, the Rocksett still holds beautifully but isn't impossible to remove when needed.

Why not go with an AAC brake? I have one on my 3-Gun AR, it works great and it is threaded for an AAC silencer. I got the same brake for my house AR so they can use the same can, if I ever get around to getting one.

Not nearly as efficient. With the SJC brake, it recoils like a .223 (loud enough to make your ears bleed, but really stays on target.)

OK dumb question. When installing a crush washer does the taper side go towards the barrel or flash suppressor/brake?
