Again: it's a Beretta 71, not a Beretta 1951. The Beretta 1951 would indeed have serious problems running suppressed, especially since the locking block is known to be problematic at high pressures. They blew up a lot of them with +P+ Uzi ammo back in the day. You could, in theory, have internal threads tapped and use that for a threaded extension to provide the appropriate length, but I think it would be a bit of a waste.
The Israelis are semi-infamous for having made extensive use of Beretta 71s (22lr) for their air marshals and clandestine services.
