No ****ing way they keep the Polytech on there. We all know the truth - that this is an M1A copy.

Nice to know piston ARs are ready to go, though.

No, it's not. I know the attorney that petitioned that, and it does not have completely interchangeable internals. The gas plug is threaded differently than the M1A.

Generally some work needs to be done to fit a USGI bolt to a Polytech. Perhaps this alone is the reason?

I would have to agree there were other parts that wont interchange as well,my first two were sold unregulated then later msp changed that and it included m1 and polytechs and norincos, however i had polytechs that shot very well out of tbe box compared to nearly double the springfield price tag, some norincos had heat treatment issues and some of the later us produced ones as well from what i remember

So would MSP consider it illegal to modify a Polytech receiver and fit all USGI parts to it? That's something that people like to do.

    Then it'd be a copycat.

    NOT a copy cat.

Copy cat is the features test ONLY.

    <29" Long
Two or More than two of the three bad features (flash suppressor, grenade launcher, folding stock)
Fixed magazine of more than 10 rounds

So as I read this the gas system is the defining system of operation that makes it legal in the eye's of MSP?

    H&K
MR556 Match Rifle 5.56mm 16.5 Inch Barrel Black Finish 6-Position Buttstock 30 Round
Features HK-proprietary gas piston system. Does not introduce propellant gases and carbon fouling back into the rifles interior. Rotating bolt system. Free-floating four-quadrant rail system/handguard which can be installed and removed without tools and returns to zero when reinstalled. Cold hammer forged barrel. 6 lands and grooves. 1 in 7 inches right hand twist. Six position adjustable buttstock - 96mm of travel.

    Primarily yes.

MSP pointed out smaller differences too. Different barrel nut, barrel extension has extractor support (neither probably enough of a difference by themselves but definitely not typical).

So, if James River or LRB offered a semi auto version of the M14 with metric threads instead of standard, that would be legal??
