When All Else Fails.
Ya'll gotta see this thing that's on GunBroker: 413150146
It's a cut-down antique (1896) 1891 rifle. Re-made into an M38 carbine. It has an M44 rear sight, an M44 stock, and a LATE 46/47/48 front sight with HEAVY base. The 43/44/45 dated M44 carbines had 91/30 front sights.
Matching receiver/magazine/butt plate. Electro-pencil bolt with older style body/handle. I think the bolt is probably importer marked.
Either this is someone's abortion or it was arsenal rebuilt after 1945 (heavy front sight base). It is widely believed that 1945 was the cut-off date for M38 carbines.
Current bid is 500 dolla.
Check it out.
