Would this work in Maryland? Got this from FB regarding bundy issue.

Officer that has pulled you over: Are you carrying any weapons? (NEVER EVER ANSWER THIS QUESTION!!)
    Driver: Am I being Detained?
    Officer: No
Driver: Am I free to go?
Officer: Are you carrying any weapons?
    Driver: Am I being detained?
    Officer: No
Driver: Am I free to go?
By the third of fourth time, the driver no longer needs to ask the question. Their response should be a statement "Then I'm free to go" and drive away!
Nevada is a traditional open carry state with complete state preemption of firearms laws. However, Clark County is grandfathered so as to continue a “Deadly Weapons” registration scheme. Fortunately, Nevada law exempts travelers to and through Nevada from these registration requirements for 60 days. http://www.opencarry.org/?page_id=272

Taking legal advice from Facebook posts is almost as good as taking legal advice from a bunch of non attorneys on a gun website.

Yea, well what about now that police can tell if we have a HQL? Do I have to answer or is, like everything else in MD, that not my right anymore?

Not fishing, just relatively new to this state, not for long , and wondering what happens now that I have a HQL are they going to be asking me if I have weapons every time I get pulled over, and what my rights are regarding...

    Don't get pulled over.

And if you do I don't think it's because they suspect you have weapons in the car but rather a traffic violation...

And if you do have weapons in the car ensure you follow the transport laws.

HQL database is not shared with anyone outside of the licensing division just the same as the Carry Permit DB is not shared. So, while they can run you when you get pulled over, they have no clue if you have an HQL or a Carry License, so nothing to worry about unless you tell them you have an HQL or a Carry License.

If I pull you over, I'm detaining you. It may be in reference to a traffic violation or it may be in regards to something more serious. Either way, you are not free to leave until I make contact with you and complete my investigation. Follow the line of nonsense contained in that first post and you will spend the day (or night) in jail and have to utilize the services of a bondsman. If I ask you whether or not you're armed you can certainly exercise your right to remain silent. How that will turn out varies from Officer to Officer. As long as you're not intoxicated, insane or going about armed to commit a crime I personally don't care so long as you don't do something stupid like drawing the weapon as I approach or throwing it out the window. Those things tend to raise red flags and may result in a significant emotional event.

Wasn't there a recent case where a Florida driver was pulled over by transit authority cops that knew he had a carry permit and he was harassed on the side of the road?
And Maryland proved last year that they don't give a damn about gun owners' privacy.

I've had a ticket or three over the years and never remember being asked if I had a weapon.

I have lived in this state for more than 50 years and been pulled over for my share of traffic violations…….and not once did the LEO ever ask if I was carrying any weapons.

I suspect Mr, dbow has a hidden agenda…….IMHO.

I did once. That was cause I was a dumb$hit and never took my Texas CHL out of my wallet. When I handed over my DL I put my wallet on my leg and it was in plain sight through the plastic window in my wallet.

Trooper asked if I had weapons, I said no, she said she was only asking cause she saw my license. I explained that it was from when I was stationed in Texas and just never took it out of my wallet.

She didn't ask to search my car, just said thank you, walked back to her cruiser and came back a few minutes with a written warning and a have a nice day.

I guess there's something to be said for being polite and having your license, registration and insurance up to date and available.

I had a MSI sticker on my car for three months and I was pulled over three times for stupid shit like crossing center on a narrow country road or seven over, just stupid stuff . Everytime the first thing cop asked was if I had weapons in the car. Took the sticker off and haven't been pulled over since.

Hmmm. I have an NRA sticker, MDShooters sticker, Browning buckmark sticker and NRA tags. I haven't had a single problem.

this is exactly why I don't put gun club stickers all over my cars/trucks...with the exception to the stickers that have the FOP insignia on them and mine say "Active Member" not supporter or booster. :innocent0
