You need to come to a monthly dinner meeting, for starters. Get to the BCCIWLA website and read the newsletter for membership contact info; you'll want to get in touch with Carol Efdimis, membership secretary.

I'm a student member and it's totally worth joining. The head of the Rifle & Pistol Committee sponsors my university gun club.

Yep, I remember you. Did you ever get the castle nut right side up, properly torqued, and staked?

Sadly, the chapter is slowly turning libtard over the last several years. A recent example is the liability release form that everyone has to sign in order to use the range. It is over the top filled with silly details like, '.... will not hold the club liable for bee stings and insect bites ...' The details and length of this form scream that the organization is being lead by government bureaucrats. Other examples are range rules that limit the number of rounds in a magazine to 10 (legacy 1994 ban). Thankfully there are some new Board of Directors folks that are really stand up guys and close friends. They work their buts off to make it one of, if not the, best IWLAs in the country. Just remember that this is a conservation organization NOT a gun club. There are a lot of hunters their.

As I understand it, the limit to the number of rounds you can load into a mag and the one second between shots rule were done after being coerced by the Montgomery county government. The county government is absolutely paranoid about rounds going over the berm, so they think such limits keep people from accidentally firing rounds over the berm.

Damascus IWLA does not have these rules and is in MOCO.

Damascus & BCC are different clubs, I dont really enjoy the rifle pistol range @ BCC so I shoot mostly shotgun but the rules are there for a reason.
Anything you think is restrictive is in place as a reaction to a threat (real not percieved).
We had somone trespass on the property, trip and threaten to sue, based on that if you arent a member fill out the form or go somewhere else. Allowing guests is a courtesy not a right.
We have been trying to buy adjoining land for the last 10 or 15 years for the same reason, survival. Keeping our neighbors farther away means we exist longer.
If you disagree, go shoot a round of skeet or trap at National Capital, oh you cant it was closed down ....

****IWLA Damascus is closed to new members now. It is a very active chapter and well run. It is a bit more rural than BCC and all of the ranges are well kept and neat. The part of MoCo the Damascus chapter is in has not gone full retard lib tard yet. I'm happy I joined when I did.

I considered joining simply because of the number of friends and family members who are members there. It's 40 minutes away, when the Damascus chapter is 15 minutes away. I joined the Damascus club. I've gone as a guest for many years. The liability form is new. I've seen it only once, and will likely not sign it again or return as a guest because if it, and the 'nanny' environment at the range where you will have a minimum of 3 ranger officers watching your every move. Are webcams really necessary to monitor activities of shooters?

That said, it has some of the nicest facilities and some of the nicest members. I know some of the BOD/BOG and officers very well. They are very good people. Becoming a member is a privilege. I stand by my assertion that the club his libtard tendencies, especially based on the 'take it or leave it' attitude toward feedback about how to make the club better. It wasn't for me when it would have made sense for me to be a member of both clubs.
