Just pulled this out of the box. Cell pics will have to do. I didn't do HP. Wanted to keep it at the sale price.

For the price I think it looks great. I was expecting worse. I don't know much about them so if anyone has good info please post. I will be looking at the usual sites.

I scored a really nice 1943 last year at a gun show and was thrilled at $250, since it all M44's were selling for that price, regardless of rarity. So you should be doing backflips @ $150, because mine looks identical to yours.

    At $250, that IS a score; at $150, it's a steal lol..

That's looking very nice. I got min for $200 OTD at an LGS, and I thought that to be a fantastic price. I wish I had another $150 to throw at this.

Thanks guys. Very happy with it. Glad I bought one since I wasn't going to.

The stock is war time I see but it has the cuts up front that I didn't see on most others. Is that just an early style or left over or something?

I am talking about the cuts by the rear band.

I think those cuts were standardized by the time the M44 came along. They are there to make it easier to pull the band off. Early 91/30 and M38 stocks dont have them.
Very nice rifle by the way. I've seen two other 1943's for $275 each. They were too pricey and all electro-penciled so I passed on them.

Good call Dave  I wasn't sure about the slits either but your explanation makes sense; those bands can be a pain to get off lol.

Between this and some of the variety in the $99 Classic rifles, there have been some great Mosins showing up lately.

yours came in much better shape then mine... I got a '45 Izhevsk, but there was rust on the bands, a bit of rust on the cleaning rod, and a bit of rust on the bottom of the magazine area. Stock was in great shape minus the bottom looks like it was clawed.

Kind of disappointed with it being a hand select

Alpha, didn't you get a Tula '44 M44? That was a good buy too!

Yeah, but I got two. I got one for $150 and a second that I did a $50 hand pick a Tula fee, so that one was $200. I'm happy with both mine but I already have a '44 and a '46 so another year would have been nice.

That is a good point; "mmmm, a '43 Izzy" lol. Hopefully you pick one up sometime soon.
