Article didn't say what make/model pistol. Just .40.

    Anyone know the make?????

In other news...... driving down Rte. 5 / Branch Ave., yesterday evening, I watched a female in a P.G. Sheriff's (marked) cruiser, twirling her pistol beside her head, with her right hand, 'cowgirl style'. "Twirling" it on her right index finger. Finger pointed straight up. This was at 16:20 hours.
Couldn't tell what make/model pistol that was, either. Too far behind her. (She was doing 75+ mph.)

    Stooooooooooopid stunt.

    :shocked3:

    (Got the cruiser number, too.)

He was flown to Shock Trauma for a flesh wound to the lower leg?

Depends what they mean by "flesh wound". Any bullet fragments near a major artery, especially in the leg, can turn fatal in seconds if they cut into the artery.

Ihave a buddy that is a smc detective but I haven't talked to him in a while. I know at one point he had a glock. If I see him in the near future I will ask him what they carry now.

A lot of buddies on the CCSO carry their personal weapons now. Most have .40 Taurus and .45 Colt because none of them want the departmental issue Beretta junk.

“It was not self-inflicted, [and] he was not shot by someone else,” Black said. “What made the weapon discharge is still being reviewed and under investigation, ... to determine what caused the weapon to go off.”

Weird description of events. Regardless, hope he has a quick recovery.

Not sure if you mean Calvert or Charles for the CCSO, but Charles are not allowed to carry personal weapons. Currently they carry the SW MP40

St. Marys officers can carry personal weapons meeting certain criteria... I have several buddies who are with SM and carry 1911's.

CCSO (Calvert Co Sheriffs Office) is currently carrying a mix of FN's and Beretta 96's, IIRC, they're in process of retiring the 96's and are cutting ties with FN. Haven't heard what they are replacing them with.

My cousin is a Detective in St. Mary's, last I heard they had a mix of M&P's and Glock's. But that was a while back (2 years).

Didn't read the link, but hope for a speedy recovery for the Det.

Not if the deputy dropped it.

If it was a Glock, there is a (not recommended) trigger mod that you can do that makes the sidearm more succeptible to releasing the striker if it's dropped.

    Possibility???

My understanding is that they were qualifying and the gun went off while he was reholstering. Possibly got his finger inside the guard. Seriously doubt it was a mechanical issue.

    Speedy recovery.

"wounded at a gun range by a round from a .40-caliber handgun, a weapon that the sheriff’s office reports that neither he nor anyone else was holding", wow.

Sent from my deer stand using a series of chirps and clicks.
