embarrassedly I bought a highpoint 9mm because it was $100. That was a mistake. I immediately went out and bought a Glock 17. That was 17 years ago, wow

Nice choice. I want one of these. Like the compact/subcompact feel of the P239, and it's overall balance.

My first was a FiveseveN in FDE that I picked up last year - same time that I joined the forum. I thought that I was just going to get just one handgun, and from many of the reviews, it sounded like the wonder gun. As a novice, I could get reasonable groups offhand up to 50 yards after a bit of practice. I was enjoying range time too much and realized that ammo was going to be expensive.

So I decided to get something in a common caliber, a Walther PPQ in 9mm. And boy this gun was fun. At 25 yards, I think that I shoot it better than the FiveseveN.

Then I needed (not sure when want became need in this hobby) a wheel gun and got a 686 3-inch. Love shooting 357 magnum rounds from Underwood - big bang, lots of flame. Feel like one has the hand of Zeus dispatching thunderbolts from Olympus. :D Granted, I'm only hitting paper.

Then I thought that I needed something compact and easier to carry where allowed, and a Sig P238 was soon on it's way. Nice layout, and a solid, little shooter. Then SB281 passed, and the PPQ needed a companion so I got a P99 AS in 9mm ...

Now it's a disease, and I need a subcompact Walther P99C AS, HK45 Compact Tactical, Sig P228 or P229 or both dammit, a Sig P239 as noted, 686s with 4- and 6- inch barrels, a Ruger Blackhawk (not sure what size, just exploring), a Ruger SR22, and a 1911 of course. A Walther PPK stainless in 22LR might be fun too. :)

First fired = M-16 modified to use .22LR (indoor range at Marshall University during the ROTC intro course which I took just as a fun elective - my ambitions at the time were to be a US Marine).

First owned = S&W M&P Shield (9mm) - now in my grubby paws.

My first purchase was made at a VA pawn shop; I bought a Beretta 92 Centurion and an 870. Oh, how I despised that handgun. It's amazing that my ambition survived.

My first gun was a Ruger 10/22 that I bought from Best products in Towson for $80, sometime in 1980. I still have it.
I bought my first handgun in 1980 from Nichol's gun shop on Loch Raven Blvd. A S&W 586 combat magnum in .357. I love that gun, and still have it. I miss that gun shop, though.

My first was a Smith Model 39. Got it right after I turned 21 in 77. Liked the weight and balance but found the shape of the grip rather chunky. Since then I have had 1911s, Beretta 92s, a USP-40, a 686, SP-101, Ruger Mk IIs, not to mention a long list of C&Rs. Right now my shooters are a C&R Hi Power and a SIG P225.

Smith & Wesson M&P 9mm I pick it up Saturday from Joe at Sure Shot. Got it from Grab-A-Gun since his FFL was already on file and they were one of the few places that had the one with the external safety.

Can't wait to get my hands on that little blue box!
