Last night, roads in my neighborhood were closed and the police helicopter was searching the corn fields. A man beat his parents (who are in their 70's) and then barricaded himself in the house. The parents and his estranged wife were able to escape to a neighbor. The mother was flown to Shock Trauma with serious injuries. The assailant eventually committed suicide.

The man was Kris Abbott who broke into Ray Woollard's home years ago and was the G&S reason Mr. Woollard got a CC permit. It's a good thing the state deemed Mr. Abbott was no longer a threat and therefore would not renew Mr. Woollard's permit.

    That's interesting news indeed.

Of course...now...they will be able to claim that he has zero threat outstanding.

I wish he would have stayed alive. It would have given them a viable reason to issue a CCW to Mr. Woolard. They may still be able to use this to our advantage.

First off, all politics aside this is a very sad and disturbing story to the man's wife and parents. I hope the mother is OK and recovering at STC.

That being said, this is the perfect example of why G&S is such a complete misguided pile of trash. The "State" deemed him to now be OK, but says Woollard isn't responsible enough to carry a firearm.

It sound to me like the State gets it wrong on every turn. The State is not All Knowing, that is what this story proves.

Here is hoping the parents and the wife are doing OK.

And here is to hoping that Mr. Abbot is shoveling a never ending pile of hot coals in the deepest depths of hell.

    Well a few thoughts:
    1. The state is really a bad judge of what constitutes a danger a specific individual let alone the general public. This piece of trash probably attacked a few other people but was never caught doing it.

    2. I think this may help our case in SCOTUS and possibly tip the balance for cert. This makes the states case look very weak.

    3. Laws don't prevent ASSHo!es from committing crimes, guns do.

    I hope you're right about number 2.

This just goes to show that our gun laws need to change, someone this dangerous should have never had access to a gun. We need more restrictive common sense laws that require anyone interested in buying a gun to undergo a psychiatric evaluation, 40 hours of classroom training, 500 rounds of live fire training and sign an affidavit that they will never use their gun against a human or puppies or kittens. They should require all guns be held at local police stations and can only sign them out during hunting season. Also keep strict records of ammunition used and must be bought from local police stations only with a $50 per booollet tax.
