Just got word that the Tackle Box will not be joining the list of businesses who will release in 8 days.

:mad54: Awww nuts! I got a Taurus model 66 357, Taurus 9mm and a DPMS Oracle in there awaiting release from purgatory. I guess I will take a deep breath and continue the wait. Thanks for the update LimaVictor, its appreciated.

I am waiting on a call from Tackle Box as well. A family member asked them yesterday if they would release early and they said they are not participating or something to that effect. That's fine, I don't see them getting any business when you can go down the street and get your firearm in 8 days as opposed to their 11+ weeks.

If they provide instructions on how to do it within the law doesnt that amount to an ok?

uh no.... They have essentially told dealers, Hey if you wanna release after 8 days, go ahead, follow these guidelines, BUT you are on your own if something happens....Some dealers are not taking that risk and I do not blame them...

That's not at all what the letter said, nor is it the law.

It does seem to be a strange business model. Charge higher prices and wait for MSP ND release (10+ weeks) while others in St. Mary's county are selling at cheaper prices and releasing after 8 days. I agree it is their perogative to wait for the NDs, but with flood gates opening across the state, those that stick to this business model will probably see their customer base evaporate.:gun2:

Ok, you obviously know more than me smart guy. Please tell us EXACTLY what the letter says. I know several ffl dealers who were told EXACTLY that on the phone when they called for clarification.

The law says 7 days, so if we are following that, then why are guns being held up to 60 days?

For all the dealers who are NOT releasing prior to receiving ND, I believe they should stop and consider their future business. Who, in his right mind, would make a purchase from that dealer a second time, or use them as a transfer (as in my case with All Pawn)? I will neither be shopping at All Pawn, nor using them for transfer again.

I am on day 72 for a 3/24 with Tackle Box, and all of the talk of having our firearms finally released to us according to the law got me all hot and bothered too! Of course, we probably should have known better.... I've had a couple of mediocre experiences in there since my wait has started, and some fantastic experiences elsewhere......for what it's worth.

Yes their prices are pretty high most of the time. I do occasionally find a gem in the used handgun cabinet though. Only reason I ever frequented there.

If something happens they are always on their own. They could be sued 5 years from now for a gun legally transferred by them 5 years ago. They are setting up straw men.

Yeah the owner is a retied MSP officer so I fig they were not going to release early.

Real world scenario for you to consider ----

I am a criminal and want a gun. I know I cannot pass a background check. I know that some dealers are releasing after 8 days without an approval. I go in and purchase a gun, fill out paperwork. I come back in 8 days and pick up my gun. I walk out with it. I rob or shoot someone later that evening with that gun because I am a criminal.

Is this possible? It is for those dealers releasing early without an approval. So why would you blame any dealer for taking extra precautions and not releasing without an approval? It is NOT your license on the line or your name, business, etc. if something bad happens.

Do you honestly believe they want all those guns in there store piling up??? All Pawn as well as many other dealers would like you to get your gun back as fast as possible. They are running out of storage space, they are gun guys, love guns and talk about guns non-stop. They are on your side. Just because they wish to use there own due diligence and discretion when it comes to releasing them doesn't mean they want to. Put yourself and your own money and business name on the other foot and think about that for a minute.

So the hearsay you have gotten now replaces what the letter actually said? I'm not going to argue what you think you heard someone say they heard from some guy......

Hearsay? Yea, ok. You obviously don't know who I know. As a retired police officer from this area and lived here for over 40 years, I know and have spoke to a few people very high up in MSP, Federal agencies as well as numerous other agencies. Now I am a business owner who can see things from both sides. ...So I really don't care what you think I know...

Ferrari, you are wasting your breath man. If all these guys bitching and complaining about not getting their firearms were as active when SB281 was being presented , maybe, just maybe we would not be in this situation.

Maybe the FFLs in SOMD will starting working together to make sure these non well adjusted individuals that are flying off the handle and ranting and raving don't get a transfer period! I would not blame them one bit.

But if I was criminal I would not leave a paper trail, I would just go around the corner and buy a 9mm for 250$
