i thought you had a red dot on it when I shot it, didn't you? Maybe I'm thinking of a different gun.

I think that will work. I have a different style but it lets you use the iron.

What claw mount do you have? I am trying to decide if I want to get one on my gun -

I changed the butt stock to a retractable one. With it fully and halfway extended I can use the iron sights no problem. However, when totally collapsed, I can't use the rear peep sight - I'm placing my chin on the end of the stock which is checkered and those points dig into my cheek. Not that comfortable (maybe I should toughen up?). Call me queer, but I prefer the peep sight over the open bracket (which I could use for the entirely-collapsed config).

Or... I could drill holes on the fore grip to attach a rail and a laser sight (I'm thinking this might be the way to go). Is the foregrip sturdy enough to be tapped? It feels a bit flimsy to me... Not sure if the plastic would object to being drilled and have attachments hanging off of it.

DON'T DRILL! You can buy a new forearm w / grip with Weaver rails built in cheap! Go to ar15.com and then to the armory. Once there go to the GSG5 forum and start reading and looking at the pictures. You'll get everything you want right there.:party29:

And the linky for the sight is www.leapers.com. Look for 5th gen.

    why not drill? just curious...

anyone know if the Leaper's CETME tac mount allows the use of iron sights? Look at it - I don't think it does, but want to make sure (here it is at airsoft extreme)

We put the better part of a brick through the GSG-5 today and it was a real bundle of smiles! Everyone wanted to take a turn on it and everyone liked it. Slow fire, mag dumps, 25 yards and 100, you name it. Only problem I had was a couple of failure to feeds and a failure to eject. Out of about 400 rounds, 3 malfs is exceptable. I'm sure with use it'll shape right up.

I will definitely be taking the GSG with me EVERY trip to the range. What a great rifle. Too much fun!

Somebody on here recommended them in this gun.

Two of the failure to feeds i *think* might have been caused by using the magwell to grip instead of the foregrip up front. I caught myself doing it when i felt the magazine follower tabs hanging up on my hand. I though "oh, duh", went back to using the foregrip and the stoppages ceased. I'm not real sure about the failure to eject.. the bolt closed on the shell casing sorta like a stovepipe.

I can't wait to take this thing out and chase soda cans with it. If you aim right for the base of the can it pops up in the air. I would track the can at it jumped thru the air and rolled back down the berm, then as it came to a rest, SNAP, i'd hit it again. Hit rate at 25 yards was approaching 90% once i started to figure out the sights and controls. :D this is the sweetness they speak of

That was me hole punch that said the golden bullets worked well in mine. Did you find a place thast has them, seems I can't find any and I only have a couple boxes of them left.

The GSG is a very fun toy to play with and one of my favorite plinkers so I know what you mean about the fun you had.
